Indiana 80, Michigan 67 Comment Count

This was nearly the entire recap. [Bryan Fuller/MGoBlog]

I can't fully capture the noise this fan made. A guttural wail, as if Chewbacca had been stabbed in the heart, or a baby elephant had suffered a collapsed lung. It was the sound of a soul forcefully leaving a man's body.

Michigan had a 10:29 scoreless drought in this game, Indiana went on a 28-0 run, and that noise emanated from the seats behind press row. Let's try this sports thing again tomorrow.

Man, if the comments here are any sign, this site is going to be insufferable today.

It was a bad game. This team, when they shoot poorly, isn't very good. It's also a game that they can bounce back from.

Under John Beilein?  Holy crap.  How can a team with as much talent as Michigsn not score a single f-in point for that long on their home court.  I wasn't nearly as mad at the team as I was at Beilein for doing almost nothing to stop it.  Call some damned timeouts.  Scream at them.  Throw a chair.  Do SOMETHING.

was one of the all time worst games EVER in Crisler...just simply pathetic..they will get blown out by MSU...I m not even sure the NCAA Tourney will happen...they barely skated by the bottom of the league and are going to get blown out by the good teams like they have ALL YEAR....no confidence in this team....sorry but reality has set im..were not good at all

premautre or whatever. saturday is going to be awful. and if that is a blow-out, then, this team is very unlikely to do anything such as making a run (or even making the tournament, which should not be the goal). then, it is time to say thanks to JB, and find a guy who can keep UM on a winning trajectory. for that brutal stretch last night, that looked like a division II team out there. ugh.

That was one of the least enjoyable games I ever watched, even stopped at halftime.  I'm not surprised we lost, after all they're the same team as us except...they're better shooters, more athletic, have a better point guard, and a better center.  But holy crap didnt expect that 41-9 run after we were up 15-4.

We are more bad at basketball than we are good at basketball.  I'm generally cool with it.  We aren't Kansas, never going to be.  But good god do they even discuss defense?  That's my half hearted rant.  I'm over it.

I missed the beginning of the game and turned it on with Michigan up 15-4. From there, ouch!

During the big run, we just weren't moving the ball on offense. The rare times we did get someone driving in, they either got swallowed by the IU defense (lots of times it looked like they were going for contact and the foul, and when the foul wasn't called it was a turnover) or kicked out for a decent perimeter shot, which was missed. It was ugly, but I don't think the sky is falling. This team can get it together.

who can score.  We don't need those at all.  It would be ideal if we just had a couple bigs who made opposing guards think twice about entering the lane.  But our personnel is, by objective metrics, sufficient.  Unfortunately, ti appears our players' effort is dictated by being able to hit easy open shots.  When the going gets tough for us (which equates to whenever we play a good defensive team) we fold.  If the team defended like their lives depended on it then we could compete with the upper echelon teams like IU, Xavier, SMU even when the offense is not clicking.  Some teams dig deep, we check out.  All is not lost though, the team can still develop a more resilient, fighter mentality.  Go Blue!
