I have a new post up
Did I mention you're beautiful?
One of the first things I thought about when I saw the Shafer news yesterday was what it would mean to gsimmons... if anyone was more invested in the marriage of Shafer and Michigan, I'd like to meet him.
You've always been a great presence here, great source of information, especially during the game chats. Thanks for that.
Guess the real question is... will you still be around here, or will you be taking the gsimmons show to whatever blog covers the team that he'll end up at next?
Either way, rock on gsimmons
fan way before i was a SS fan...
i was an mgoblog contributor way before he was hired as well... ill be around... dont worrie
I thought I remembered reading once that you said that if he were to go elsewhere, so too would you. Good to hear I'm wrong.
What a strange MgoBlog thread... there's hardly any hatred between fellow fans at all?
Thank you for your insight. It is greatly appreciated.
I'll second that. I subscribed to your feed immediately after reading that post.
Regarding the content, I'll be the first to admit calling for Shafer's head after the Purdue game. It was pretty obvious that there was an internal conflict of interest regarding the future of M's defense from that game forward and something had to give. It works out rather nicely (at least from the outside) because Shafer has the opportunity to flourish where he's a better fit and hopefully RR can land Shafer's 3-3-5 counterpart and continue building here. It's a testament to RR's commitment to excellence to have hired Shafer in the first place (as opposed to his second or third choice 3-3-5 guy) and I can only hope the new DC hire is executed with as much scrutiny.
That said, SS may be a genius, but it certainly wasn't evident this season. Chalk this one up to the square peg syndrome as well, I guess.
If we as fans can figure out where our glaring weaknesses were on defense, it was probably pretty easy for opposing offensive coaches to find the soft spots too. After all, they do get PAID to do that sort of thing.
