Probably not an ideal posture for McGary on the cover of a magazine. EDIT: Not this magazine, anyway.

For the basketball/hockey version, you could have one sport on one cover (like it was a basketball only preview), and one sport on the other cover, flipped vertically so that it still reads from the beginning as its own sport preview mag. ESPN Mag has done this for a few joint themed issues, iirc. Assuming you dont have any combined basketball/hockey articles, it could be cool, as both sports would start from the beginning of their respective side.

Didn't know that Mitch McGary gave birth to a fully uniformed hockey player.  He is one tough mother!

Leaving aside Copp getting posterized, these look great.  I had ordered a copy of these in advance for my dad, and he absolutely loves McGary, so he'll love his gift all the more.

(If I could voice a pedantic quibble, the Denard cover from last year always bothered me a bit, given how his body was positioned relative to the "HAIL"; the "spatiality" of the cover seemed warped.  In this edition, Lewan's left arm is much more naturally wrapped around the text.)

I was about to come in here OUTRAGED over the cover, then read the last line of the post, then read the comments.

Really, though, that cover needs to be totally scrapped - I would think it would stop people from buying the mag.
