I can't find anything on Michigans defensive records. I believe its Woodley for most sacks in season, right? With 12 or something? Whats the career sack record?
How many sacks does B-Graham need to break it? He is at 18 right now.
Going back from 1949
#1 James Hall with 26.5 sacks 96-99
#2 Lamarr Woodley with 24 03-06
#3 Brandom Graham with 19 still playing
#4 Tim Jamison with 18
#5 Shawn Crable with 17.5
#6 Victor Hobson 14.5
Lamarr has single season record with 12 sacks in 2006.
AGain stats dating back to '49

What's your source? I'm pretty sure that Mark Messner was announced during one of last season's games as Michigan's all-time sack leader with 36 or something like that.
I could be wrong though.
WTF!? HOW DARE YOU QUESTION ME!
psyche...my source is mgoblue.com...got to the history link under football and they have a query there that allows you to look this up.

Ah. Thanks. Not for nothing though, Messner's absence from the list made me curious, so I looked up him individually, and his stats show that he had no sacks, so there's clearly something wrong with the page. Messner had many sacks. I have no idea how many.
You are right. Databases are as good as who enters in the data, thus GARBAGE IN GARBAGE OUT and looks like mgoblue is messed up.
Looking up Messner on Wikipedia says he has 36 sacks.
here's info on him

I know the NFL didn't keep track of that until 1982. The NFL ain't the NCAA, obviously, but the NCAA probably didn't keep track of QB sacks until the 70's or 80's either (supposedly the term "sack" was coined by Deacon Jones in the 60's).
Where's Charlie Bauman when you need him?
The sack records go back to 1980.
The top guys in career sacks (as of 2005):
Messner: 36
Hall: 25
Hutchinson, Horn, Steele: 24
Robert Thompson: 19
The single season record as of 2005 was David Bowens with 12, so he and Lamarr are tied in that category now. Brandon would need a record-obliterating year to catch Messner in career sacks, but if he has a decent year he should be able to get into second place.
As of 2005, Messner was leader in season TFLs with 26 and career TFLs with 70.

Yeah, he did have 36 sacks, and one hell of a pornstache
i know David Bowens is up their as far as single season record. career record is probably around 30-ish.
