We had a new defensive coordinator last year and things didn't go great. But the two times previously that UM debuted a new defensive coordinator things went a little better. In 1997 Jim Herrmann won a national championship. In 2006 Ron English replaced him and we started 11-0. Yet I continue to read assertions that in 2009 our defense will have to overcome the challenge of a new coordinator. Getting to the point:
Based on anecdotal evidence, I happen to believe that having a new Defensive Coordinator is not a negative, and, if anything, is a plus.
Request: can some statistician compare records in new DC years with records from the year prior? I would love to see a real answer. I know this is the board to do it.
