I'm not sure

how this relates to football.  I kid . . . but in all seriousness is anyone else having a tough time caring about anything sportswise that isn't Michigan Football?

No, I don't have any trouble keeping interested in where the

basketball program is going.  I am very excited about seeing this years team and how well they progress as Beilein builds for the future.

I am also pretty anxious for Sept 4 to get here.

Teammates with OSU commits

Teammates with OSU commits Sullinger and Weatherspoon so he wasn't asked to score much. Good get, many have compared him to Talor Battle, which is fine with me.

I really love this pick up...

...This is the type of kid that Wisc gets, lets cook for a  couple years, and then challenges for the conference title with.
He shoots 50% from the three, is a strong defender, and can get to the basket when he needs to.  This isn't the type of kid that recruiting sites go nuts about, but its the type of kid who plays on a sweet 16 team.
And it is really good too that he decommitted from PSU to then ultimately go to Mich.  It is going to take time, but if this group of youngsters that Beilen has get a chance to grow together it could be a solid mix.  And it starts with getting guys like Trey Burke.  IMHO.

Smooth Pull Up

Trey looks like he has a smooth pull up jumper and three point shot.  He will be more polished in that department then Darious was coming in.  However, he will have to overcome his size to be effective.  Good Pick Up, but as said above, the front-court needs beefed up big time.  Go Blue!

Absolutely love this pick

Absolutely love this pick up. With the way they can get to the rack, it looks like Burke and Brundidge might be able to play at the 2 while Darius handles point with Hardaway at the wing and Smotz wing/forward, shaping up nicely.  I guess this means no go for Stauskas and possibly Pangos.

I think Stauskas is 12 and

I think Stauskas is 12 and Pangos hasn't decided if he is 11 or 12.

I always thought a point was a priority in this class, glad we got a good one.

The kid makes it look easy but that happens when you have a sweet mid-range game.

Position?

Dylan lists Trey as a point guard, but Tim has him as a shooting guard.  I see him backing up Darius for two years (which we really need) while Brundidge shows up as the starting 2-guard unless Stu turns things around this year.

Does this mean the door is closed on Yogi Ferrell?  I assume so.

An impact big-man would be awesome for this class, though the McLimans-Horford-Morgan trio will each have three years of eligibility at center after this year.

Pretty clear Belien prefers

Pretty clear Belien prefers combo guards, he wants you to be able to shoot it as well as handle it. I thought conventional wisdom was, Belien likes bigger guards, wouldn't know it by Brundidge and  Burke.

Seems like a bit of combo

Seems like a bit of combo guard as Dylan says he is "considered a scoring point guard by many," but in any event he appears to be a good pickup. Welcome Trey!

It wouldn't surprise me if this was it for the 2011 class. Michigan seems to be in good position for a number of 2012 prospects, so perhaps Beilein signs two in 2011 and three in 2012--with at least one big man a priority for 2012.

How about Glenn Robinson III to go along with "Trey" and Hardaway Jr.?

The next priority for 2011 is Pointer.

Hope that Burke will push Morris as a freshman. He and Brundidge will be a  dynamic duo for 4 years.

Nice article on Burke from

Nice article on Burke from Rothstein at annarbor.com. Makes him sound like a perfect fit. Includes some good quotes from his high school coach:

Burke is a true point guard who can score -- not a good guard who can also run the point.

“He is a pure point guard on both ends of the floor,” said James ‘Satch’ Sullinger, his high school coach at Northland High School in Columbus, Ohio. “Defensively he’s on point and offensively he’s on point, and he understands what it takes to win. Trey, he’s pretty good.

“This summer he played himself up to the Top 100 in the country.”

The writer of the freep.com article on Burke talked to Burke's father, who indicated that he "thinks U-M is still targeting a big man in this class."

I like how this class is

I like how this class is coming together, but I do hope a big man is the next to commit.  The two guards, while explosive, are a little small compared to Beilein's usual pickups, and this team needs to have some semblance of an inside game and rebounding.  Kid looks like a good shooter, though, and he definitely can make his own shot.  Nice signing.

Really like this commitment. Our backcourt is going to be stacked for the future with Burke, Brundidge, and Hardaway. Now all we have to do is add a big man and we will have a very good class.
