Hello: Slightly Different Version Of Chris Partridge Comment Count

As many assumed when John Baxter went back to USC, Chris Partridge has been tabbed to fill the spot:

University of Michigan J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family Head Football Coach Jim Harbaughannounced Thursday (Jan. 14) that Chris Partridge has been permanently added to the coaching staff and will serve as the team's linebackers and special teams coach.

"Chris has a proven track record as a successful coach," said Harbaugh. "He has brought a lot of energy and enthusiasm to his work as our director of player personnel. I know that same passion will be exhibited in his work with our student-athletes."

Sort of, anyway. Michigan is evidently moving away from a special-teams-only coach and Partridge will get some help, or Partridge will chip in—the picture and the article have conflicting information—or whatever. They'll figure it out.

Keeping Partridge was a major priority for Harbaugh after DJ Durkin departed; Michigan's success recruiting New Jersey this year speaks for itself.

I don't think he is eligible due to his previous title but have to think he would have been in the running for recruiter of the year. Has been a great addition to the Michigan family. Go Blue, Chris!

Sort of scary to have a first time college coach coaching probably our worst unit from last year but I'm sure he'll get plenty of input from Brown, and I trust Harbaugh.

def. backfield.   But LB is the position we seem to have the biggest challenge with over the last number of years.  Let's hope Partridge is THE guy to turn this around.  We certainly need to keep our presence strong in NJ which of late has turned into a goldmine of talent.

Think this will be the first time Harbaugh won't have a dedicated ST coach in his time at Stanford or Michigan.  Should be interesting as we had significant improvements last year until some late season breakdowns in coverage.  Hopefully no significant regression as it was a key in keeping MSU game close / winning other road games.  About 20% of all plays total in a game are ST.

During bowl practices, he wished he had a spot open for Partridge. A spot opened. Voila, he put Partridge in it. I presume that if Zordich or Jackson returns to the Shield, Harbaugh will hire a dedicated ST coach. Until, probably Jaybaugh will head up ST.

A head coach for a private high school stacked with elite d-1 talent who beat up on a bunch of high school teams?
