Nick Eubanks completes this year's most llama-out-of-nowhere recruitment by committing while on a mid-week official:

The Iowa State run on Chase Allen's crystal ball is now explained.

Eubanks a four-star to three services. 247 ranks him the #11 TE in the country and a four star; ESPN has him the #2 TE-H (they split their TE rankings) and a four star inside their top 300. Rivals has him a four star just outside their top 250. Scout is the only service to rank him a three-star.

A more informative update is coming.

Shit, couldn't we just take 4 or even 5 tight ends? I'm sure Harbaugh would find a use for all of them.

Yeah his highschool team split him out a ton, never even really see him with his hand in the dirt on any play. Ala Funchess at Harrison, wonder how Harbaugh intends to use him, he's pretty quick for his size and should be a pretty favorable match up on most plays.

Crazy stuff going down this year.  Can't wait to see how it all closes out.

Welcome aboard, Mr. Eubanks!!

Film definitely has a Bunting/Funchess flavor.  Will be very interested to see how the blocking side evolves.  Do not think this pre-empts Asiasi at all.

Depends on who you ask. Most people peg Eubanks as having far more potential. He is 6'6 a lil over 200 lbs so he will need to hit the weight room, he's also a bit more athletic. I'd say if you had to win a game today you go with Allen but M has a luxury of many TEs and can afford a project

This is an intriguing choice. Magnus didn't want or like Eubanks, thinking Allen was a better option. Personally, if we get Asiasi, I think it is great to add Eubanks as a different kind of option. He may well be more of the Funchess kind of player. If Eubanks can redshirt, add about 15 pounds, and learn to run routes, he could be very, very good. He seems to be one of those raw yet high ceiling kind of guys. We'll be able to see how good Jay Harbaugh and the other coaches are at actually developing someone like Eubanks.
