Hello: Dylan McCaffrey
After much consideration, I am Very proud to announce I have committed to the University of Michigan! #GoBlue pic.twitter.com/spHPcFrQb5

Michigan has landed a commit from the top 2017 QB on their board, Dylan McCaffrey (Yes That McCaffrey). McCaffrey is the son of Ed and brother of Christian; he's 45th on the 247 composite, and the #2 pro-style QB in the country behind Clemson commit Hunter Johnston.
In McCaffrey, Michigan gets a 6'5" pocket passer with huge upside and excellent bloodlines; his early commit will hopefully allow him to recruit other gentlemen into the class. Michigan may still pursue a second quarterback in the class. If they do so he's likely to be a player like Gentry or Viramontes who could play another position if QB doesn't work out. More likely is that Michigan stands pat with McCaffrey and Peters in back to back classes.

No NBA and ESPN refuses to give the NHL any coverage. I guess if Peyton Manning was Tom Brady, they'd plaster those allegations all over the front page. But since it's "golden boy", that's back on the SEC blog.

what's with the mid sentance capitalization with a lot of these kids' messages?
Seems like 5 seconds of proofreading on such an important announcement isn't that big of a deal.

I have seen this kid in person and he is the real deal. Great pocket presences and awareness. Throughs with great mechanics. Can make all the throws and spins the ball well. Has decent speed to extend a play or pick up yards if he has to scramble.
Having a top QB early is also great to help reel in other top talent. Great Job Harbaugh!

-"For now."
I feel like every announcement of "I have committed to Michigan!" should come with a "*for now" under it until NSD
-is it just me or are kids getting exponentially stupider each year? if that's the choice he made after "much consideration", he should really go to a doctor to be tested for lead poisoning or something
-duke
Stanford
General Studies at UM.
He's not the smartest of the brothers that's for sure
Hey buddy...he had offers from Duke, UCLA, Nebraska...
-I don't see how this is relevant. MSU didn't offer, the kid doesn't exactly have an elite offer sheet, and if he's so good, let's see where he stands when/if USC/UCLA/the SEC come calling.
Personally? If the kid's going to screw over Michigan, I hope he goes to Arizona and Rich Rod.
Hey buddy...he actually has offers from UCLA and Washington
-What position will his HS coach be handling at SCum?

So, what is his backstory here? His father and brother were both stars at Stanford . . . and yet he commits to Michigan in February of his Junior year.
Is it just a case of him seeking out the University of Jim Harbaugh, and that if Harbaugh was at Oklahoma or Tennessee or UCLA he would have gone to one of those places? (Not that I'm complaining, lots of 5-stars go to Alabama and Ohio State because of Saban and Meyer.)
I'm just curious why Stanford did not get a harder look.

Word around Denver is he wanted to blaze his own trail and not follow in anyone's footsteps. Comendable attitude as it would be very, very, easy to go to Stanford and have a major support system already in place.

His brother will be in the NFL by the time he enrolls, so that whole, "his brother goes there" thing may be overrated in this case.

Don't forget that his Dad's best year in Denver (2000) was with Brian Griese as the QB. Then franchise record in receptions with 101.

which might prove to have been one of the factors that got Dylan interested in Michigan.
Who knows how close Brian Griese and Ed McCaffery have remained over the years, but it wouldn't at all surprise me if Griese had some influence on how young Dylan McCaffery grew to like Michigan,
