Has anyone paid any attention to this kid Nader Furrha? He looks pretty impressive. He is kinda like an Arabic Beaver or something. Really!
national champs baby
An Arabic Beaver. No further words are needed.
No question, Jim.
No disrespect. Really though this kid looks pretty good. him and Beaver are almost twins as far as height, weight, and speed.

Are you really comparing a walk-on to Shavodrick Beaver? I realize the recruiting sites often misevaluate players, but if he were that good don't you think he'd have an offer from us, or at the very least some MAC schools. I'm all for the underdog, but realistically he will never see the field.

You just said height weight and speed. Unfortunately it takes a lot more than that to be a Division I qb. Sorry for coming at you about this, I just can't believe how excited all these people are about the signing of a preferred walk on who couldn't get an offer from Eastern. I like to aim a little bit higher than that.
No Worries Clayzer. Maybe next year we will land Devin Gardner and we can start being a real threat again. I miss those days. Later man.

Maybe your right. Nader wants to be with M and is willing to turn down full rides from other schools just to get a shot at the glory that is the MAIZE and BLUE. Beaver is a weazel who decommits at the first sign of competition. Maybe they are less alike then I thought. My mistake.

Meant for Clayzer.

Furrha is a loyal Michigan fan, and I love that about him. I got that we all hate Beaver now since he decommitted. I just find it interesting that everyone is excited about a walk on qb just because he looked better than Sheridan in high school. That's not saying much.
Again, realistically, he won't ever see the field. If he does and I'm wrong, good for him. But the odds are against him.
I agree but, I personally cannot stomach another year of Sheridan who cannot throw or run. I'd rather have a true dual threat guy who can at least run faster than glaciers, and can throw a simple bubble screen pass. Not to mention HE WANTS TO BE HERE. OBTW, I don't hate Beaver. Just like I don't hate J. Boren or anyone else who has jumped ship. We need the true BLUES to stay and the rest to go to osu or the domers. To the rest, I wish the best. Their Loss. Your thoughts.

“You’ve got to keep an eye on those two, because they’re going to try to get the upper hand,” Parcells said about Sean Payton and Mike Zimmer during the team’s recent minicamp. “Mike wants the defense to do well, and Sean, he’s going to have a few … no disrespect for the Orientals, but what we call Jap plays. OK, surprise things.” After making his comments he repeated, “No disrespect to anyone.”

Arab's generally don't have beavers, they r encouraged to shave every 40 days.
Any film on the kid? If he slides ahead of Sheridan and Coner on the depth chart, like that line says (not a tall order), this is a worthwhile walk-on if i've ever seen one.

Thanks for the link. Well, outside of Feagin (who sort of is/sort of isn't a QB), he's certainly a better runner than any of the Quarterbacks. That says something in an offense like the one Rodriguez likes to run. I think it would be ignorant to assume this kid won't do anything. While an Athletic QB, I was surprised at all the seemingly difficult throws he pulled off.

Just goes to show how worthless the recruiting ratings system is. Thanks for that tidbit.

I checked Scout.com and take a look at any position. Over 50% of all 5 and 4 star high recruits are not even starting in college.
2004 QB: Jonathon Crompton started the first four games of the 2008 season but was benched in favor of backup Nick Stephens.
2004 QB; Ryan Perrilloux
2004 QB: Ben Olson constant injuries
2004 QB: Joe Ayoob In 2006, Ayoob played in just four games as Cal's backup quarterback.
2004 QB: Mark Sanchez -- whoo, hooo!
These were the only 5 star QBs. 80% were busts.

I checked the actual link the article and take a look at this paragraph:
"a player has nearly a 50-50 chance of being drafted in the first three rounds if he is ranked as a five star recruit. The chance drops significantly for four stars. It drops even further for three star prospects, as they have less than a four percent chance. Two star recruits basically have no chance of being drafted in the first round — in fact, its less than one percent."
Your "over 50%" number is also wildly inaccurate. The evidence you offer to back it up, single player ancedotes, is completely worthless.

Dex, "nearly a 50-50 chance" means that "over 50% will not be drafted in the first 3 rounds!
BTW, you (and others) missed the whole point of my posts. I never even hinted that Furrha was a "guaranteed" success.
I merely provided examples that the "OMG, Furrha will never, ever start" were too pessimistic.
And, I will "guarantee" that any QB that is not on the U/M roster will never start.

Wow...really? Is that how 50-50 works?
The point is a 5* is more likely to be a future superstar than 4, who is more likely than a 3, who is more likely than a 2, who is more likely than a 1.
As in, recruiting rankings are not "BS". They are, in the macro view, pretty accurate.
For every Pat White, there are 400 Justin Feagins.

I assume you were using hyperbole.
There were only 140 two star QBs in the 2005 HS class.
Since 80% of the 5 stars were a bust, the odds of a 2 star being successful are worse -- but, the odds of making money in the current stock market are a lot worse than that!!

Sheridan is on scholarship now, so if Michigan can pull down that instate kid or someone of similar ilk in the 2010 class, they well have Sheridan, Threet, Cone, Forcier, and Furrha. Congrats to the local kid for getting a spot at the M, but unless things go awry, he shouldn't make the traveling 85.
WE GAVE SHERIDAMMIT A SCHOLARSHIP?!?!?!?!?!!
WHAT THE F*CK????!!?!?

If you are a multiple-game starter, then yes, you've earned a scholarship.
I thought it was just a one year thing, like that Morales long snapper guy got. He was on scholarship for the 08-(what would have been)09 season and then he has to give it up this upcoming season to make room for other players. I might be misinformed though.
Hail! To the Conquering Heroes!
Did the Furrha Mafia head to the interwebs today?
Ok, so he is not Boyd, Robinson, or Beaver but this is a position we need some depth at. Cincinnati and UCLA needed like 5 QB's this season and the Bearcats made it to a BCS game.
He is a local kid that turned down a great D2 program to play for the Wolverines. He even enrolled early. This kid should be applauded for what he is trying to do. Brian Griese wanted to come to Michigan and walked on and did pretty well. I wish this kid nothing but good luck and hope we can get Robinson to commit this weekend as well. Sheridan can play Safety and cover kicks on special teams.
I hope that AJ kid from Holland considers walking on as well.
If he were black or white, would it be mentioned at all in these posts? And for future reference, "Arab" is an ethnicity/culture, and "Arabic" is a language. A person cannot be "Arabic," and neither can one's beaver.
Of course, a person could certainly speak Arabic, but I would be surprised if one's beaver could.
Dude where have you been? Beavers have excellent linguistic ability.

I believe that beaver was speaking English with some kind of British accent. You are getting close though. All you need to do is dub that video in Arabic. That would be really cool.
Damn, I was watching the You Tube video of Furrha and realized the opponent is the Bedford Mules (Bedford's football team is largely made up of great kids killing time until wrestling starts). Watching film of an opponent making play after play, I can feel that ulcer creeping back up...makes me feel like i'm back home all over again!

I was at all the Pioneer home games this year, and Furrha was the best player on the offense. He runs much better than Nick Sheridan or Steven Threet, but isn't really explosive. His arm strength is okay (not great), and he is accurate, but his mechanics are a little funky. Right now he's much too skinny to suit up against Big Ten defenses, so expect a redshirt and then he'll be battling with Threet to backup Forcier, unless we get another QB in the class.
