via Seth

It has happened. Jim Harbaugh will be Michigan's head coach starting Tuesday. The race to tell you water is wet is on in earnest, but with even ESPN grudgingly admitting it, it's 100%. These four gentlemen were the first:

John Clayton is saying it's "100%" with Harbaugh pinging NFL assistants about their desire to come with him; there is an army of comically out of touch NFL people saying the Raiders aren't dead yet without even considering what the 49ers would prefer—not the Raiders.

It's done.

Wow, great job to all involved (not that any of them are scrolling through message boards right about now). This hire is what one might call "making a statement." It's a great day to be a Michigan Wolverine!

I am so happy, just like all y'all! My Badger in laws are in town and the timing is just gravy.

I got that nostalgic choked up feeling when watching the hype videos, too

Harbaugh is the perfect coach to unite the Michigan fanbase: ties to Bo and the traditions yet a strong enough personality not to be restrained by any existing dysfunctions -- either in process or personnnel -- that lurk the hallowed hallways. He's young, proven, and a force to be reconned with. His ceiling is much higher than Bo's or Carr's because he has an open-mind and seems to prefer winning to football dogma. And he's got the fire in his belly for winning and the ability to light it in his players. We might lose some at first, by I'm positive that it won't be because of lackluster performance or players not playing up to their potential. We won't be losing to teams like Akron or Toledo and we will be upsetting some big fish.

We've finally landed an elite, top-tier coach. I'm pinching myself, I can hardly believe it.

Let's Go Blue!

So apparently a "bidding war" occurred after "mutual seperation" occurred. Honestly I don't care what the final contract value is....as long as there IS a contract!!!! I've already paid my 4 seating donations and can't wait for first home game against Oregon St (which I was hoping would be night game).

Will probably be the best day in Michigan football since the national title. There have been exciting times since then, the Denard first night game may come close, but few things can elicit the type of hype that Harbaugh brings. Overjoyed, assuming this goes off as planned, which I am still waiting to make sure he signs on the line which is dotted! Much props to Hackett are in order. Go Fing Blue!

If he was going to stay in the NFL why would the 49er's not trade him? Now no NFL team has to give the 9er's draft pics or any kind of compensation. Theoretically the Raiders could get him even cheaper now! That would just be stupid on their part. Hottest coach on the market and you're going to let him go and not get anything? Just pass on 1st round picks like everyone said they were going to get? No way! It just has to be a done deal already, only thing that makes sense. P.S love the new banner!!

But I seriously doubt if I will ever see Jim Harbaugh nibble on every opposing coach's ear after every flippin' game like Brady Hoke did.  Hugs and smooches.  It was getting sickening.  No more softball.  It's HARBALL TIME.  I mean this IS Michigan FerGodsakes.  Finally, Game On!  GO BLUE!

What the fuck are you talking about? I mean, like... I don't want you to try to explain your dumbass post that makes zero sense. I guess I mean to ask how does such a stupid thought pop into your brain?

B Hoke might not have been the most spirited coach but he in no way "nibbled on every coach's ear" after games. You sound just really, really fuckin' dumb.

Ha. Shut up, dude. This did not happen every game. Sorry for not watching post-game handshakes but I don't see the parallel between telling someone good game versus being "soft". What's he supposed to do? Punch him in the face? I'm not even a Brady Hoke guy as even with Harbaugh it will take a year or two to reverse years of poor player development and teach simple X's and O's. How about you tell the current and former players he was soft. When he left, all of his players stood up for him and talked about his preaching of toughness, both physical and mental. I'll hang up and listen on the other end.

The timing of this hire is amazing to me. Look at the planets that had to align for this hire to happen. Yea, I know, we coulda/shoulda got JH or LM in 2011, but whatever.
3rd year in a row Hoke regression, Brandon F ups, their subsequent firings, Hackett interim, JH availability, JH no NFL offers (?) or trade, spouse and family support, on and on with other things we don't even know about.

If this ain't fate folks, I don't know what is...

but I just have to give a big "In your face" to all the commenters on this site over the past few years who posted that this would never happen and that people should stop talking about the possibility of Harbaugh coming to Michigan. Those comments always made me sad. Anyway, suck it, boners.

I see the Jets fired their head coach.   Others may fall in the NFL.  Its Monday monring and I am getting uncomfortable there is not a formal statement by Umich that its done.

On anotyher note, Mgoblog has been a trail blazer, a loyal steward of not only the Program but for all of us, and his coverage was thorough and impeccable.  I am ashamed to say I have been a subscriber to certain big-recruiter type websites at $99/year.  I cancelled my plan this monring and I will be making my first annual donation to Mgoblog right after the NEw Year...
