It has happened. Jim Harbaugh will be Michigan's head coach starting Tuesday. The race to tell you water is wet is on in earnest, but with even ESPN grudgingly admitting it, it's 100%. These four gentlemen were the first:
I just got off the phone with more sources tonight. It's done. Jim Harbaugh is coming to Michigan - and his friends are flying in Monday.

Jim Harbaugh's family is flying to Ann Arbor Monday, source tells @FoxSports. Harbaugh will be #Wolverines new head coach.

Confirmed @BruceFeldmanCFB's report that Harbaugh will fly into AA tomorrow; presser likely on Tuesday (FREE): http://t.co/M3on6Xqi85

Summation per multiple sources (including one within 49ers organization) - Michigan Expecting to Name Harbaugh Coach http://t.co/3dRTBHfYiu
— Sam Webb (@SamWebb77) December 28, 2014
John Clayton is saying it's "100%" with Harbaugh pinging NFL assistants about their desire to come with him; there is an army of comically out of touch NFL people saying the Raiders aren't dead yet without even considering what the 49ers would prefer—not the Raiders.
It's done.

A decade of strife surmounted. The angry Michigan-hating gods appeased. Let the good times, er, Harbaugh roll! Damnit I'm happy, like this happy:

This could be one of the biggest hires in college football history. Plucking a proven NFL coach in the prime of his career back to the college ranks. Even when Saban came to Alabama, he was pretty darn mediocre at Miami.

Thanks to Brian and the entire MGoBlog staff for their wonderful reporting throughout all of this. Now I very much look forward to having the same dedication put toward reporting on potential assistant coaches and recruits!!!

What we desperately wanted, it remains to be seen if we can get what we need: successive wins over our rivals, and to be in national and conference championship discussions. Very excited, and our chances just went way up for those things, but there are no guarantees...
Now let's see what the rest of the staff looks like, and the recruits we get to say hello to!

....the news that Jim Harbaugh will finally come home to coach the Michigan Wolverines.
Question: What are the greatest events of your life?
December 28th, 2014 at 4:40 PM ^
And just when things seem to be at their darkest, the prodigal son comes home to lead his alma mater back to where it belongs. To tell our rivals that enough is enough. To unite the factions and lead the charge forward into a new era.
I don't know what the future holds as far as beating MSU or OSU. Guys like Meyer will not be intimidated by Harbaugh. His teams will still be damn good and a tough out. But this hire means that both Meyer and Dantonio are put on notice. We're not going to be their damn punching bag anymore.
The sleeping giant has been awoken, my friends.

Why don't you think that Meyer is that great? He has won two national titles, four BCS bowls (one with Utah) and has an 0.843 career winning percentage.

This may be the first coaching acquisition where I'm looking to buy his jersey. Go Blue and thanks for coming home Coach.

To dear Ann Arbor town,
Back to Joe's and the Orient,
And back to some of the money I spent,
I want to go back to Michigan,
To dear Ann Arbor town,
I want to go back;
I got to go back,
To Michigan

The program's in better shape than even 1997 because Jim Harbaugh is a significantly better coach than Lloyd Carr. It's in the best shape it's been since Bo retired.

Incredible coup by Hackett and Schlis. There was quite a bit of good luck regarding the timing of Harbaugh's availablity, but past UM administrations would have royally screwed up this opportunity.
It'll be great fun watching Harbaugh assemble his staff. Here's hoping the process for hiring a new AD yields similar results.
