harbaugh[1]

via Seth

It has happened. Jim Harbaugh will be Michigan's head coach starting Tuesday. The race to tell you water is wet is on in earnest, but with even ESPN grudgingly admitting it, it's 100%. These four gentlemen were the first:

John Clayton is saying it's "100%" with Harbaugh pinging NFL assistants about their desire to come with him; there is an army of comically out of touch NFL people saying the Raiders aren't dead yet without even considering what the 49ers would prefer—not the Raiders.

It's done.

I have a couple of friends that are big OSU fans. They have insisted that Harbaugh would not leave the NFL and that Michigan looked like a fool. Ah....I can't wait to chat with them!

Let's make this quick because this is a threadjack.

It's similar in concept to your browser cache except upstream.  Just like how your browser stores images so it doesn't need to keep requesting them over and over, you can take pressure off your server in various ways that keep end users from hammering it.  Browser caching saves on your bandwidth.  Server caching saves resources on that side.

I don't know if MGoBlog uses a CDN (typically caching is done by a CDN, otherwise I'm not sure what is being cached or where); my guess is that they shut down various services on the front page to make loading it as simple as possible for their servers.  That means everyone gets the news and the site stays up.  The downside is that the site is "static", less interactive.

Long story short, it's not related to HARBAUGH.

still can't quite figure out how things went so downhill the last few years, but the future is bright for sure

Let's get to work it's Harbaugh time! Bring it MSU and OSU we've got our leader now. Dantonio and Meyer, your complete dominance is at an end and not short enough it was. Edit: they are worthy adversaries but now we will finally be able to meet them toe to toe and will have our fair share of victories IMO.

This gets me about 95% comfortable (maybe more).  It would be 100% comfortable, but prior coaching searches have left me a bit ... damaged.  Still, there is nobody in the media that I would count on more than Brian calling it.

Welcome back, Jim Harbaugh.  You've had a great career as a coach.  Here is where you build your legend.

This doesn't guarantee any championships, but IMO as I've said before, this does ensure that fairly consistent 10 win seasons are in our future. And that's so good, because that's where we should be.

I'm watching the 2008 Capital One Bowl on New Year's Day so that I can transition directly from the Carr Era to the Harbaugh Era. I encourage others to do the same and hope Harbaugh has as much fun whipping Urban Meyer as Lloyd did.

From the measured, accurate and superb reporting by Brian and team, to the flawless execution by Jim Hackett in his very short time at the helm, this outcome is about as big as the NC season in 1997. I signed up as a member of MGoBlog today and donated to the cause - look forward to the coming season!
