We will now attempt to answer your questions (last updated: July 17 by Seth).

-----------------------

What's the latest?

  • DUOs accidentally got an extra copy. Due to a mix-up with our fulfillment people, who tried to speed along the process, 181 "DUO" backers got a signed copy in addition to the two from your order. Since they didn't de-dupe either, some of you got two signed books. We can't really walk this back, so enjoy. If you feel strongly that you should pay this back (you don't have to pay this back), buy something from the MGoStore, or put $19.85 into Beveled Guilt. If you think you should pay this forward, put $20 toward your charity of choice.
  • Shirt level and above: Your second book is SIGNED. If you chose a $50+ option on the Kickstarter, you should have been among the first receive your first copies. Your second copy is a signed by Brian and will ship with your shirt.
  • T-shirts are now being printed. They'll be in the mail with your signed copies over the next few weeks. People who chose this year's shirt go first since that's most of you.
  • Your Kickstarter copy should have come. If you backed the Kickstarter and got us your address before 6/30 you should have any unsigned copy already. If you don't by Monday, email me.
  • If your inbox is filled with requests for your address you should send me that. As of last count we're down to 18 people who haven't done so. I'll bug you one more time in a few weeks and then I'll take the hint.

ANSWERS TO FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

I missed the Kickstarter can I buy a book?

Yes! Current options:

The Book (Printed) Kindle Edition Digital Edition (PDF)
(Draft Kings Deal) (please review) (Draft Kings Deal)
bookbook image Screenshot_2015-06-17-11-46-17

not to scale

I have a writeup on these options here. They will be available in stores too but not many because we have no newstand distribution (we would welcome newsstand distribution).

Where's my stuff?

[Just hit the jump.]

I hit the jump where's my stuff?

It matters where we are in the process.

Where are you in the process (not THAT Process)?

All dates are heavily estimated but honest "I am hopeful that…" days based on where things stood last update.

  1. Hire Jim Harbaugh
  2. Write and lay it out.
  3. Final edits sent to the printer
  4. Printer checking files for errors/printability/getting the yellow right, collecting addresses for direct-from-printer mailing (June 8-17)
  5. Printed Proofs mailed to me and approved (~June 17)
  6. Final Final version locked in for plating (~June 17-18)
  7. Digital copies sent out (as soon as 6 is completed)
  8. Printing (~mid to late June)
  9. Printed; sending to mailing house (~after 8 is completed)
  10. Initial copies mailed, the rest heading to UGP warehouse. (late June)
  11. Arrived in warehouse.
  12. Now in stores!
  13. June 30: LAST DAY to have shirt size/addresses to us for Kickstarter backers. We're printing a limited # of shirts of each size so if you miss the boat either we'll have an extra we can send you or we won't.
  14. Arrived in stores (early to mid July)
  15. Signing signed copies. (mid July)
  16. Printing t-shirts. (mid July)
  17. Mailing signed copies and t-shirts. (late July)

  19. Season begins, ignore every prediction in HTTV that wasn't true while pointing out everything we got right to your friends.

What's up with the Kindle edition for Kickstarter backers?

It's up. If you didn't get the link, email me and I'll send you the file. It's in .mobi format and it's 15 MB so make sure your device has the space. If you don't know how to put that on your device, consult Google, or consult a young person will then consult Google.

-----------------------

I was a Kickstarter backer; is there anything I need to do?

Yes, as of today just 18 out of 2,100 backers don't have their info into me yet. You've been emailed.

-----------------------

I have an INTERNATIONAL shipping address; what do I do?

Our system isn't directly compatible with international addresses. To have your magazine shipped outside the United States, add this address to the order: 260 Metty Drive, Suite G, Ann Arbor, MI 48103. Then fill out this form with your actual international address and we will send it out to you.

Please keep in mind that we cannot control how customs handles orders. Things do get stuck there for a month or more sometimes.

Send me your address.

-----------------------

I get multiple copies, can I have one sent to a different address?

Yes. After you filled out the address for the first copy in the procedure above, go to this link and fill out the second address.

-----------------------

I made a mistake on my order or I need to change the address. Can I do that?

Email [email protected] and have your confirmation email from UGPoGO handy and they'll cancel your order and let you make a new one.

-----------------------

I have an APO address, what do I do?

Select your item, then on the Address & Billing page put in your APO address using the format below:

CPT JOHN DOE
UNIT 1234 BOX 5678
APO AP 96278-2050

-----------------------

How do I check the status of my stuff?

All orders will be printed and shipped AFTER the cart closes (currently set for June 30th.) You will not receive a notification when your specific items are shipped. However if you have not gotten your order by the beginning of August please email [email protected] to request a status update. Books directly from the printer should arrive before shirts which should arrive around the same time as signed books.

-----------------------

Why are the shirts coming so much later?

It's expensive to do multiple t-shirt print runs so we are going to do one print run. We set a cutoff date of 6/30 for this to give people a reasonably long time to get those in, plus two weeks, and submitted the order on 7/15.

As of 7/17 everyone who gets a shirt except Jamie Mac has their orders in. We are taking the hint, Jamie, but one day when you're not looking, suddenly out of nowhere the MGoBlog cast will descend upon you to do something incredibly nice. The problem is you're the first guy we'd consult on incredibly nice deeds, so give us time to think of something.

Once they are printed we have to mail them out and there's a lot of them so the top of the pile goes out before the bottom of the pile. The pile starts with Bang! Bang! shirts.

-----------------------

Can I choose a different t-shirt?

Yes. If the cart is still open go ahead and place a new order for the correct shirt and email [email protected] to cancel your original order. If the cart is closed it may be possible to change your shirt order, email [email protected] to ask for the change.

We can't exchange it for some of the shirts however, like CW or Bo's shirts, which we give a portion to a charity--we tried and this was creating so many headaches for the system it's best to just say no.

-----------------------

What do I get with my Kickstarter order?

It depends what level you chose.

  • $15 – One copy of the book we'll try to mail straight from the printer, and a digital copy (a pdf).
  • $30 – The SIG: If you chose this option you get that digital copy and a signed copy that will arrive probably in early August.
  • $30 – THE DUO: If you chose this option you get two copies plus the digital version. You can have both sent to the same address or two different addresses. Will arrive probably in early July.
  • $50 – THE SHIRT: See the Duo above plus the shirt that will arrive probably in early August. If you want to substitute a signed copy for a book email me: [my name]@mgoblog.com. My name is Seth.
  • $100 – THE PATRON: See the Shirt plus your name is in the book.
  • $250 – THE SPEECH: See the Shirt plus your sentences are in the book.
  • $120 – THE BUNDLE: 10 copies of HTTV are coming to you probably in early July.

The best way to know what level you're at is to look up your Kickstarter confirmation email.

-----------------------

I don't check my emails. Can you just take my Kickstarter address (NO!) and apply it (NO!) to my stuff?

No, and the reason is because I can't see your Kickstarter address because you only entered that to get your credit card to run. The way Kickstarter works is they use Amazon's secure payment system then charges us a hefty chunk of the money we raised for that. Part of the security is we don't ever see your payment information—that is between you and Kickstarter and Amazon, and we have no means, nor any desire, to see it.

That's why we have UGPoGo.

-----------------------

I don't really want any of the stuff I ordered; I just wanted to support you. Can I just ignore these emails you keep sending?

Please don't because I can't tell you from 280+ (down from 500 yesterday) backers who still haven't submitted their addresses and stuff. Email me to say you're good and we're good.

This means you, Jamie.

-----------------------

Hey I know you guys personally does that mean I can just ask you to give me the stuff and save you on shipping?

We have to pass stuff through so many different entities (UGP, the printer, the mailing house, each other) it's way easier for you to follow the system than ask us to ask all these entities to set things aside.

Harbaugh?

Harbaugh.

I sensed some dissatisfaction in your tone regarding the amount Kickstarter takes off the final tally.  Have you considered a different service next year?

Naw, it's give and take. They charge a lot for providing a minimal service (South Park has an episode on this) but every year we look at doing it through our store and every year we end up going back to the Kickstarter because it's a smooth-ish ride.

The complaint on my end is there's no easy transition if you don't want to use Kickstarter's own system for fulfillment, and we much prefer to fulfill through UGP because our shirts are already there and they know our customers and they will warehouse the books and sell them in their stores. But that means getting people to use the same email there and then filling out their info over here. And manually porting the two databases into excel and updating. Yada yada. Kickstarter is good for what they do; eventually we will probably outgrow them because we duplicate efforts and we get zero backers from anything that's not our own promotion.

Seth,  Your attention to customer service on this effort is impressvie.  I know you are hand holding multiple Mgoblog community members through this process.  The fact that most of us went to UM and still can't figure out how to give you a tee shirt size in a reasonable amount of time is disturbing and hilarious at the same time.

Thanks for all your hard work!  I am pumped to wear the Bang Bang tee shirt around.

I got the Duo and was asked to email Seth with the 2 addresses (which I did) but I didn't fill out anything at links. Now from the above I see we can provide multiple addresses through links. If I emailed Seth based on the earlier request, am I all set?
