GET IN HIS BELLY*

Annual preview book? Annual preview book. Note that last year we sold out(!!!). The Kickstarter is a guaranteed way to get in, and prices are lower unless you catch me in person at an Alumni Association event. (And we still have books). Plus you get a DRM-free electronic copy, which is a Kickstarter exclusive. Also a Kickstarter exclusive is this year's shirt, which is sure to cause an SEC coach near you to have a conniption fit:

shirt

The book contains:

HOLISTIC TEAM PREVIEW by yours truly. This is about a third of the book. Where will we put the VIPER(!!!)? Is he a safety? Is he a linebacker? This is the kind of cliffhanger certainly worth 15 dollars.

HOLISTIC OPPONENT PREVIEW by Ace Anbender with special guest Ross Fulton. How salty will Ace be about a total inability to predict anything about Michigan State, down to whether or not they'll still have a program this fall? Very! Is it possible to get through a Rutgers preview without roasting the poor Scarlet Knights? Probably not!

TWISTED BLUE STEEL

Excellent features this year:

  • Quick Burst, Mo Hurts: Adam Schnepp delivers a candid interview with disruptive Michigan senior lineman and Pro Football Focus fave-rave Maurice Hurst.
  • No Experience Necessary: Michael Elkon (SBNation/Braves & Birds) compares the young but talented roster of 2017 Michigan to other historical reloads, including last year's Ohio State.
  • Life in the East: Alex Cook tracks the unbalanced trajectory of the Big Ten's misaligned divisions.

TECHNICAL DOSSIER

One offense, one defense:

  • The Bradyfication of Mr. Speight: SBNation's Ian Boyd discusses the truly pro-style passing offense Harbaugh plans to run with all of these new receiver toys.
  • Don Brown's New Dudes: Seth Fisher explores the various hybrids and modern takes on old positions in Michigan's defense, and explains how Brown likes to solves his problems.

TALES OF OLD BLUE

And this section looks set for an all-time performance:

  • Billy Taylor's Touchdown: Dr Sap interviewed a dozen participants to cover every angle of Billy Taylor's Game-winning score, including the coach who drew it up and the backup quarterback who called the audible.
  • The Original #1: Historian Greg Dooley reintroduces us to the first great receiver to wear the #1 jersey, and the man most responsible for making Ohio Stadium maize and blue: Tall Paul Goebel.
  • The Law of the Jungle: Adam Schnepp gathered an oral history from the men who won Michigan their last national championship.
  • The Missing Years: Craig Ross goes back to the dark ages of the program, when playing a game at all meant playing four road games vs the Top 5 in a week, then arguing with the local papers over the final score.

homesure_logoPlus our annual roundtable and a page for our lovely sponsors. 128 pages in all. BONUS: For a second straight year Homesure Lending is sponsoring a shipping upgrade from third class to first class so books will arrive in a matter of days instead of weeks.

The choice is simple: sit alone in a dark room until September or purchase this 128-page full-color book full of glorious photos and well considered words. It's no choice at all: CONSUME.

I cannot see that picture without thinking what would have happened had he at least tried to get the Francois fumble rather than dancing.  I get that he is a young player and made a great play on the big stage, but going to the whistle could get us the ball on about the 20 (IIRC).  It also avoids the big Cook run which was the very next play.

Spoiler alert -

It's aggression.

Make the stretch goal having Mo Hurst give you an Uber cab ride to anywhere in Ann Arbor. $200 level backers will also receive a blindsided sack from Hurst.

Otherwise I will make a rash decision and throw too much money at it. This is my first year purchasing (wasn't familiar with it before) so I am PUMPED!

Just saw this on the Kickstarter page:

THE DUO

two copies of HTTV plus two electronic copies.

Two copies of a DRM-free e-book? Great! I'm thinking I'm going to upgrade to this option just to get a second copy of a DRM-free e-book.

Totally a lurker but love the content. Best part is backing to get 50 words and leaving a message for the first wolverine of my family being born this year (Technically second as Dad is alumus but who's counting?). Wife may raise eyebrows but totally worth it.

I missed this...  The offseason posts are getting annoying, so this will break things up.  Besides, football in July is all-American, right?

last time i bought the book was 2014 and read all about how awesome we were going to be and then 5-7.  i do not want to be the reason we suck so I will take one for the team and pass.

You mean the one where Offensive Line starts "At least it can't be wor--SHUT UP THAT'S WHAT YOU SAID LAST YEAR" and Brian led off the offense in summary page with:

Oh, for pants’ sake. You, the reader, likely expect me to project some sort of thing about Michigan’s offense. After that! You, the reader, are kind of a jerk. You, the reader, saw... that. You know about... that. And then... that lost a fi rst round and thirdround tackle to the NFL draft. And now things are supposed to happen. Things! Things that make you not want to do other things that are very bad and you should defi nitely not do! How am I supposed to tell you these things? I am like you, I saw that. I felt that. And now. This.

Is that the issue you're talking about? Like the one where THE ENEMY THE ENEMY THE ENEMY features Michigan getting punched in the face on the first page?

Let me tell you about that issue.

  • It had a TEN-page exclusive feature by John U. Bacon that was basically a sneak preview of Endgame.
  • Also an article about Gallon.
  • It had a breakdown of Nussmeier's offense, and a study by me on how the SEC overtook the Big Ten by being the first to spend ludicrous money on coaches.
  • It had an amazing story on the 1964 team, complete with a header image I spent a day of my vacation making, a first-hand account of Bo's last day coaching Michigan, the story of Benny Friedman and how he weaponized the forward pass, and the true history--with photos--of how The Wave started.
  • That was the issue we put together when we were literally questioning how much we wanted to be fans anymore, and the one that came out a month late because we got taken by a printer scam and my dad died that week.

So anyway, yeah, I agree that issue was not one of our best, but I wouldn't say it was totally inaccurate or unworthy of owning, and I certainly wouldn't blame you buying it for what happened that year because Fuck that year. The only nice thing I have to say about 2014 is I got to end it clinking glasses with Brian and Ace and David at Ashley's right after the Illinois basketball game, and saying "Harbaugh." Don't let that year put you off from trying it again.

You know, just as I go to pledge & can't find any link I realize that the "Only 2 hours left!" was like 7 hours ago.

Guess I shoulda done this earlier.
