Goddammit:

Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced Thursday the signing of forward Max Pacioretty to a three-year contract (2008-09 to 2010-11). As per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Chris Summers is now a forward.

Another hockey player uses Red
Pacioretty goes on the long list of talented guys who attend Michigan just long enough to burnish their credentials, get a fair amount of publicity, and extract a contract from the NHL. Since coaches reap the most substantial benefits of all their work during junior and senior years, this means that the time put in with Pacioretty is down the tubes. He's certainly within his rights to do so whenever he wants, but in my opinion scholarship players who leave prior to graduation for professional contracts should be required to reimburse the schools they leave for at least the cost of the scholarship monies they've received.

Red isn't smart enough
to figure out that some of the players may leave early.  I read  someplace that he is surprised every time it happens.   You think he would have started taking the early departures into consideration when he recruits.  It's the same in business--the way to have a stable workforce is to hire people who can not get a job anywhere else.

I probably can't help ya
I probably can't help ya there. We had a small league (I think ten guys) all in Boston, all based on like a love draft and shit. I think you'd have to start this on your own if you wanted to do it...it's not horribly difficult to do though and I could probably show you some of the shit we did for it.

that sucks
I really wanted Patch to anchor my college hockey fantasy team...fucking NHL has just obliterated my team, and I didn't even make the playoffs last year.
