Does anyone know what kind of defense Greg R. ran while at Syracuse and in the NFL?
Defence will never work in the B10
...expect Renaldo Sagesse to thrive in it.
"Defence" is the proper spelling in the UK.
"authour" or something?
Grerg Robinson is British?
We spell it that way in Canada too. Well not all of my fellow Canadiens, but many.
Oh and "Z" many times is pronounced "Zed"
But back to the question. I thought I read somewhere he is a multiple front guy (like everyone is depending on what offense they are going against), but his base is the 4-3
Zed is standard in the UK. Canada is like the US and UK made a baby.
okay, so who uses the metric system and is that Kilo's or miles per hour...or is kilos drugs? *lights up a doobie, weed, grass, trees (to be continued on next post)
I think zed is standard everywhere except the US.
"Zed" should be dead. It ruins the alphabet song.
"Q, R, S ... T, U, V ... W, X ... Y and Zed?"
I actually asked a Canadian guy about that once. He told me that the Canadian version of the song has a different ending. It goes "W, X, Y (high-pitched), Zed (low-pitched)," and it ends there.
Yup, and then it goes "X Y Zed, sugar on the bed, if you don't like it.." something or the other.
This is blasphemy. Quit ruining my childhood. Next someone will tell me that humpty dumpty gets put back together again. This is horseshit (or should I say rubbish?) America is dead. You've killed it. BRB, gonna go cover myself in 5 litres of petrol and set it alight. You puff.
"Q, R, S ... T, U, V ... W, X ... Y and Zed
Now I know my A, B, C's
Next time won't you sing with Zed?"
See how I rhymed "Zed" with "Zed"?
His base is the 4-3, yes. But that 4-3 sucked ass this year, therefore we will switch to the 1-3-1-6 zone next year.
I'm not so sure about when he was in the NFL, but when he was at Syracuse, he ran a "bad" defense.
This is where our resident guru GSimmons comes in handy. Because he can break down this guys game plans. Because I think that really what this guy has to be for Michigan is an x's and o's whiz. I don't care about his recruiting, we know it's been bad at Cuse, which could explain his record. The same can and has been said about RR. He needs to get his guys in order for his system to work. Now maybe the difference between RR and GR is that RR is good at recruiting his players and GR isn't. We don't need GR to recruit here. If his defense is good, it'll be enough. That is where the nfl experience will come in to play as well. Don't think him polishing up a superbowl ring or two is going to hurt. I guarantee you The Blob formerly known as Charlie Weis gets a couple of recruits riding the coat tails of Tom Brady and Bill the mad scientist that very same way. So the recruiting will take care of itself. I just want to know if this guy plays chess or checkers out there on the field. His resume doesn't tell me that. It is too checkered of a past (pardon the pun)
I was wondering the same thing today... He must have run a 4-3 in the pro's though. You can't get away with anything else except the 3-4.
Cuse defense had 9 sacks in 07..........9
He did/does run a base 4-3 at Texas and with the Broncos. If I remember correctly, he's not a real blitz-happy coach. But he will send OLB's on occasion. I seem to remember him playing a lot of man-free coverages, which I would be okay with. I think that plays to our DB's strengths. Cissoko and Warren are both good in man coverage, and I might be okay with Steve Brown having no responsibility but to go light people up.
The best bet would be to find video of the 2004 Texas squad, since that was (1) the last team where he was a dedicated DC, and (2) a team with at least some talent.
in the Rose Bowl, and only Vince Young at his Vince Youngiest saved them?
Yeah. It's also the team that finished 18th in scoring defense, 16th in rushing defense, and 23rd in total defense.
we didnt really run up and down on them. its was more like passed up and down
We also had a short field to play with because Breaston had a monster day on Texas. That guy looked like Bo Jackson off of Tecmo Bowl that day. It still hurts that we didn't win that game.
