Godspeed, Brandon Graham Comment Count

The Eagles just leapt up 11 spots to draft Brandon Graham 13th overall and the NFL Network guy said he'd be a "situational pass rusher" his first year because he doesn't know. It's okay. You couldn't really without paying minute detail to a not good football team. May he destroy the universe from Philadelphia, where we always knew the end of civilization would originate from.

I think I might have to slightly care about the Eagles, who also have Jason Avant and Marlin Jackson, now. Someone make them trade for David Harris.

That town luuuvs them some Eagles. If Brandon can be all he can be there, he will own that town.

Best of luck, Brandon. Glad you went to a good team. And thanks!

The problem is that the ignorant talkshow meatheads are already complaining about the pick, saying that the Eagles should've picked a safety.

I love the Eagles and love the pick, obviously, but damn do I hate many of the fans.

Good luck to you Brandon Graham. Destroy things in the NFC East.

Also, remember, Week 2 Eagles at Lions. It's the home opener, so it might not be blacked out here in Detroit.

BG was the heart and soul of this team through some very trying times, and for that I will be eternally grateful.

He has a heart of gold, and Philly fans are lucky to have him.

A little surprised to see them describing him as a pass-rushing specialist. Disappointed they didn't show the clip of him destroying Winston in the backfield.

Good pick by the Eagles. I'ma Giant fan and was hoping for BG at 15

I would like to request that hit on Winston also be included in any posts that require kittens. Much like kittens, it never fails to brighten my day.

Thank you.

I remember at the time thinking simultaneously, "Dammit!! Who left 55 unblocked??", AND, "What an awesome hit!!" Looking back on it now, I'd compare it to that scene in Final Destination where the girl walks out in front of the bus. Good luck, Brandon, and mess some people up in the NFL.

This may fail, because I suck at embedding video. But here goes:

the third Michigan player on the Eagles roster. BG will join Jason Avant and Marlin Jackson. This blitz crazy defense that Philly runs will make Brandon Graham a star in the NFL. The Eagles always seem to draft well. The fact that the Eagles traded up to get Brandon Graham-very cool. NFL scouts were blown away with the hustle this player showed on the field.

For everybody that snickered at Michigan for not having a draft pick last year, when this year BG is the first pick taken from the Big Ten, I got one word for you...

Hail.

BG stayed. And BG is a champion.

That is the sound I will be making in Week 2 when the Lions have the ball. Kind of like when I'm playing Madden, those plays when you press one of the passing buttons and nothing happens, and you look up and see that your quarterback is trying to figure out where that field-level camera is.

I'll expect a lot of film breakdown of that game on the various networks. "You see here how Graham split the double-team and got to Stafford easily." "On this play he's matched up against Pettigrew, one of the better young TEs, and it's a mismatch, as Graham is in the backfield almost before the ball is handed off." "Watch here as Graham actually lifts up the turf and ripples it, knocking all 11 Lions off their feet and causing a fumble."

JB: Joe Buck along with Troy Aikman for the Philadelphia Eagles against the Dallas Cowboys. And, Troy, let's watch that last play again. Completely unbelievable. Probably a first in the NFL. Maybe all of football at any level.

TA: You're right, Joe. Words are failing me right now. Wow. This is a moment for a guy like John Madden... I think the word is, 'unprecedented.' Here on 2nd and long, we see Brandon Graham lined up against Marc Colombo. Let's see this is slow motion. Brandon's drawing a bead on Quarterback Tony Romo from the moment that ball is snapped, blowing by Colombo like he wasn't even there. Graham hits Romo seven yards in the backfield. And ... This is unbelievable. Look at that hole Romo makes in the field! That crater has got to be three or four feet deep right there. You don't see that happen too often in a football game, maybe never. That'll cause the facilities guys to go nuts! Unbelievable. You gotta feel for Romo right now, he's gotta be feeling that.

JB: You've got that right, Troy ! I wonder whether the Jerry Jones will send the Eagles a bill for the repair job?

TA: Well, I mean, this is a new stadium here in Dallas, you'd think this is a situation where the contractors would be liable...

DS: A good question for the League is whether these stadiums are built to handle a guy like Graham... An obvious passing situation for the Cowboys... Romo's getting up slowly, motioning to the sidelines...

TA: Did you just see the look that Kitna gave McGee? McGee looks like he's saying, "No, Jon, you're the back up here in Dallas..."

No sugar coat.

I gave Brian some grief one time about inflating BG's scores in UFR's; for shame, I just didn't understand yet.

If can I raise my kids to carry themselves and perform, in whatever endeavor, the way he did under those circumstances then my life's mission will be accomplished. No excuses, no bitchin'; just 100%. Every. Single. Time.

I have always disliked the Eagles except when they play the Cowboys. Now, I will have to watch BG and Philly destroy the NFC East.

BG will surprise many, early and often in 2010.

HAIL!

My son, who is an Eagles fan, started laughing at me when they drafted BG. I was shouting NO!!!!!!!!!! He wants to know when I'll be buying an Eagles jersey.

Whomever the pundit is that thinks Philly moved up to draft a "situational" player in the 1st round is full of shit. Impact players are drafted in the first round (except Tebow, seriously wtf?).

It was infuriating to see Bulaga ranked above Graham on most mocks when Graham had so throroughly destroyed him. Good to see Graham go higher.

Brandon Graham is a class act and a great football player, I'm glad to see him go to a quality team. Maybe he will be able to teach the degenerate philly sports fans how to act like respectable human beings. A lot of philly fans resemble the choir boys in columbus, that's why there is a jail located within lincoln financial stadium.

The Quad did a quick post on each first round draft pick, looking at the impact of each player's departure to their college team. Here is their take on BG and the M defense:

http://thequad.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/04/22/the-impact-defensive-end-br…

Nothing earth shattering here. Names our predicted starters and touches on the defensive scheme change/non-change. It's clear that Graham's shoes will not be filled by any one individual.

The frosting on the cake has to be watching BG use so much force to pulverize Winston that in order to get off the ground, BG has to use Winston's helmet still attached to Winston's head in order to brace his left hand as he gets up after the play. Priceless highlight, never gets old.

even if I wasn't a Michigan fan.

To see someone of his mettle achieve excellence over the years is certainly special. May we be so lucky to bear witness for years to come.

It's going to be cool to watch his fanbase explode.

It was awesome he got drafted by the Eagles. They have crazy blitz packages so he will have a chance to be very successful. Always a class act and will always be one of my favorite Michigan players ever.

It's hard to pass Woodson, but BG might just be my favorite Michigan defensive player of all time. Between his play and his personality, and his love for the University of Michigan, he's about all you can ask for. Great, great college player, should be a great pro as well.

Good luck BG!
