Oklahoma DT Gerald McCoy announced last night he is returning to school for his junior year (he redshirted his first year). He was ranked as Todd McShay's theoretical No. 8 pick in the 2009 NFL draft.
Does McCoy's return theoretically help or hurt the Wolverines' recruitment of Pearlie Graves? On one hand, this is another block in the way of Graves getting playing time - presumably, Graves wouldn't start right away at OU, but there probably are backups who would have been bumped up the chart and this would mean Graves now could be redshirted or be down the depth chart. Michigan offers a quicker path to playing time. However, Oklahoma could offer Graves the opportunity to practice with a highly rated pro DT prospect.
