FWIW: RE: Meeting last night

RR and staff did call a meeting last night to discuss some incident(s) that have happened at the bar (Apparently there were some issues with some people getting a bit out of control). Apparently RR and staff said that players couldn't go to the bars anymore.

I don't have a link and heard it from a friend.

That is all

***EDIT*** No I didn't steal it. I called him and asked him about it last night cuz he's connected. (And yes I know that they are talking about it ITF)

I'm not providing any commentary or opinion on this situation, much less looking to engage in a larger debate about the merits (or lack thereof) regarding copyright law. I'm simply saying that criminal penalties exist and may be imposed for copyright infringement, dependent the facts of the matter, of course.

Distribution is key. Basically, the No Electronic Theft Act of 1997 relaxed the necessary threshold for criminal prosecution, the primary change being to allow for prosecution even if there is no monetary gain.

Again (and this is more of a general statement rather than a statement to you in particular), this is not to provide an opinion one way or another about the OP. It's simply to say that criminal penalties for copyright infringement do exist, in response to mejunglechop's earlier comment.

[Edit: I should also note that the statutory language specifically refers to infringement committed "by the reproduction or distribution" of the work. I have not seen case law relying solely on the "reproduction" aspect, and I'm not clear on how that aspect might be interpreted, but it does catch the eye.]

Copyright doesn't mean the facts can't be shared. It just means you can't reprint it verbatim without permission from the copyright holder. For example, Encyclopedia Britannica was copyrighted, but I definitely sourced it for papers in middle school.

The team, bars and drinking...

It makes sense...I have heard MANY stories from close friends (not football players) who have told me that some of the players, a few in particular (who usually hang out with each other), are pretty rowdy at the bars. In short, they won't turn down a fight.

A close friend of mine was a worker at a popular on campus bar and was the lucky recipient of a few sucker punches to the head by a player.....this happened because there was a ruckus because he did not let them jump the line into the bar. A by-stander took a cell phone video of the incident...not a great quality video but I've seen it first hand.

In any case, kudos to Rich Rod....they're all college students and have crazy tendencies (haven't we all). Whatever keeps them out of trouble.

It would be very painful for our team to lose the players that I've heard like to get crazy at the bars.

Yeah, out of respect for the program and these players, keep your names to yourself. Although i've heard from very credible sources about these shenanigans and have seen the video first hand, I'd prefer to let sleeping dogs lie and hope they mature.

I myself was on probation for 6 months in college for stealing a picture out of a late nite South U eatery (why I tried to steal it, I have no clue)...Alcohol makes young men do bad things

I say NO!

Anyway, Bo Pellini of Nebraska banned players from bars last year after a player got into trouble for going "upskirt" with his hand instead of a cell phone camera.

No more incidents. No more bar fights. One player defied it and was suspended for the season. Pretty pleasant results if you axe me.

OMG OMG OMG Players are idiots at the bars? There is a double standard for players at bars. One of my best friends was on the team and whenever we went out, half the bar would always be watching him. Also, the coaches have certain people hired at the bars who watch the players. This has been going on for years.

I would say that about half the guys in college (Michigan or any other) are idiots in bars. This included me back in the day.
