FL RB Demetrius Hart

Last Week: Dr Phillips pastes Gateway 59-0.

Senior Demetrius Hart ran for 187 yards and five touchdowns in two quarters...

Hart,a Michigan oral commit, had three scoring runs of more than 40 yards. Eric Harrell, a sophomore, relieved Hart in the second half and rushed for 72 yards and a touchdown.

Plymouth’s defense also flourished, with Fox and senior Brennen Beyer doing serious damage on Saline quarterback Trey Heren and Hornet running backs throughout the game...

Beyer had one sack and half of another, along with several crisp tackles. Beyer had one sack and half of another, along with several crisp tackles. “I just got off the ball really well and got to the quarterback,” Beyer said.

We definitely need a good high school recruiting class but, given our awful lack of depth in the upper classes (which isn't going to change overnight), shouldn't we be looking at JUCO players too?  I'm willing to assume that Juco players are generally less talented than those coming through high school (on the assumption that if they were all that great, they'd already be taken), but they're also a year more mature, both physically and experience-wise.

Couldn't we use some solid, fairly mediocre, but older/more mature defensive players, even if just to get our total numbers up to where they should be?  Maybe it also lets us redshirt some of next year's freshmen that really need to be redshirted, however great they will one day be (paging a certain freshman db from Florida...)

Thanks for that link.  I recall a discussion a few weeks back of UM's history with JUCO players in years past.  But Moore does look interesting (and a cut above what I had in mind in my message -- he seems like a genuine prospect that had some fairly unique circumstances; I was thinking more of "journymen," if that term makes sense in college recruiting).

From what he said during his commitment, Michigan is his school. He thinks he can fit into any system and he feels that he belongs at Michigan because it's the only place he felt like family. I don't think any rumors are going to change his mind.

I don't know if this has been pointed out before but it seems that there are some errors with Lake Nona's schedule. They're actually 0-9 this year and they lost to Celebration 21-28. Their first game was against Citrus where they lost 0-14.

No one else is thinking this?  Since ND is doing as bad as it is, maybe someone should tell Brennan Beyer to start doing some of his own recruiting on his ND committ kicker teammate.  I know we've got one on scholarship, but how's that working out for us?  The situation is so bad, we had to move our punter to kickoffs.

The way things are now, it wouldn't be such a bad thing to cut down on Denard's carries.  He's getting plenty dinged up and if the two of them can combine for the same kind of stats, Robinson runs a lower risk of injury and can still pose a threat to run.  With Smith, Hopkins, and Fitz(?) already here, bringing in Hart is the good kind of an embarrassment of riches to have in the backfield.
