i find this extremely interesting
Friday Night Lights 2009: 9-8
If you can help out finding articles on any of the commits, we'll try to make it as comprehensive as possible. We were only able to make it to 1 high school game this week (sorry to spoil you last week with 4 games), so that's listed at the top. In future weeks, the 2011 commits (of which there are currently 1) will be included as well.
MI RB Austin White
Last week: Stevenson lost to Howell 14-28. Austin rushed 16 times for 119 yards and 2 TD (12.44 YPC). He also caught 4 passes for 59 yards, and had a 53-yard touchdown grab erased due to penalty. Paul and I were there, so experience the glory of HD:
In all honesty, if Stevenson's coaches would have just given Austin the ball more (and you can't argue with his production), the Spartans would have had a much better chance to come away with a win.
This week: Stevenson (0-2) at Salem.

MI QB Devin Gardner
Last week: Game preview. Inkster lost to East Kentwood 52-33. From the sounds of it, Gardner's receivers did him no favors:
On two occasions in the first half, Gardner heaved up nice touch passes to the end zone only to see the ball slip through teammates fingertips and fall harmlessly to the turf.
Devin finished 19-30 passing for 389(!) yards. He also had a 66-yard rushing touchdown on the game's first play, and finished with 10 rushes for 102 yards with another touchdown (2 total).
This week: Inkster (0-2) has the week off.

Last week: Was expected to have a breakout performance. The vikings beat Northwestern 20-10.
Conelius Jones ran for 45 yards and a touchdown and threw for 125 yards and another score as Spartanburg traveled to Northwestern and knocked off the Trojans 20-10 Friday night.
No word on attempts.

This week: Canton South (0-2) v. Ravenna.
MI WR Jeremy Jackson
Last week: Huron defeated Tecumseh 41-14. Jeremy had an interception for the Rats, but no receptions.
This week: Huron (1-1) @ Temperance Bedford.
OH WR DJ Williamson
Last week: Harding rocked Youngstown Chaney, 58-0.
This week: Harding (1-0-1) v. Akron Buchtel on Saturday evening.
OH OL Christian Pace
Last week: Avon Lake fell to Brunswick 7-24.
This week: Avon Lake (0-2) v. Elyria.
OH DT Terry Talbott
Last week: Wayne defeated Canton McKinley 27-14. There's no specific mention of Talbott, but the defense performed well:
Four big plays — including one on defense — catapulted the Warriors to a 27-14 victory over Canton McKinley...
Wayne’s defense unleashed a “trifecta” — sack, fumble and TD — as the Warriors forced four turnovers and improved to 2-0
After seeing how dominant he can be a week ago, I would be shocked if Terry wasn't directly responsible for some of that defensive wizardry.
This week: Huber Heights (2-0) v. Glenville on Saturday evening. This should be a hell of a game. I'd recommend checking it out, if you're in the area.
PA DE Ken Wilkins
Last week: Trinity falls 22-36 to powerhouse Canon-McMillan.
This week: Trinity (0-1) @ Greensburg Salem.
PA DE Jordan Paskorz
Last week: Hampton defeated Blackhawk 21-13.
This week: Hampton (1-0) v. West Allegheny.
OH LB Antonio Kinard
Last week: Liberty beats Niles 29-12. Kinard caught a 24-yard touchdown pass, and also came in for some praise from his coach:
Whittaker said Gutierrez and Michigan recruit Antonio Kinard are the heart of his defense.
“They were all-conference linebackers last year,” he said. “We’ve come to kind of expect them to make those types of impact plays and they have made many.”
This week: Liberty (2-0) @ Campbell.
FL S Marvin Robinson
Last week: Lake Region lost 0-9 to Winter Haven. Marvin had 20 tackles(!), in addition to a forced fumble and an interception. 43 yards on 8 carries (5.38 YPC).
This week: Lake Region (0-1) v. Kathleen.
OH CB Courtney Avery
Last week: Game preview. Lexington destroyed Shelby 42-6.
Senior QB Courtney Avery broke a couple of tackles and burst up the middle on a 54-yard TD run less than three minutes later.
Avery finished the game 14-26 passing for 202 yards, and he ran for 40 yards on 7 carries.
This week: Lexington @ Cameron.
OH CB Terrence Talbott
Last week: Wayne defeated Canton McKinley 27-14. There's no specific mention of (either) Talbott, but the defense performed well. See above for details.
This week: Huber Heights (2-0) v. Glenville on Saturday evening. This should be a hell of a game. I'd recommend checking it out, if you're in the area.
Excellent job, fellas.
One tiny thing: 16 carries for 119 yards doesn't equal 12.44 ypc. That's it!

Never thought I'd comment on math here! Anyway, I'm really amazed and pleased at all the new info since Tim et. al joined the team. It's just great.
"Everyone gets dumped Gabe. Let me give you some advice: a little coverup on your Adams Apple will make it appear smaller. Which will make you appear less like a transvestite."
Whoa. How did Jeremy Jackson manage to get an interception? Tecumseh throws the ball about three times a season.

HAIL TO THE VICTORS.
If I were White's coach, I would sure be feeding him the ball a lot more than 14-16 times per game. Especially with that kind of production...
"But it is better to live here in sackcloth and ashes than to own the whole state of Ohio."
-- Lafcadio Hearn
Last year they did.
He had 35 yards rushing before he got benched.
Speaking from experience, if you want some Austin White highlight vid, LS @ Salem is probably the game you'd want to get it at.
I'm loving the video. nice music and editing!

Inkster's pretty soft defensively. Any first-hand comments?

I am in the area and have been planning on going to the Wayne Glenville game for some time now ... I don't know what time the game starts and Im not planning on missing ND vs. UM but do you know what time it will start and I can even take some video or write a few observations about the game for next weeks write up if you'd like.
Oh-oh oh-oh oh-oh Here comes the ban hammer.
FYI Wayne-Glenville has been moved to Fri b/c OSU-USC. I'll try to pass along info on the Talbott's when I can, but the Dayton Daily News HS football covrage has went to shit.
EDIT: Just read in the DDN Terrence Talbott has had foot/ankle injury and hasnt played in week 1 or 2, but is expected to play Fri. vs. Glenville.
Friday? BAH! I'll still be there but that hinders my schedule. Do you know a time? 730 like most hS games on Friday? the talbotts are not the only recruits playing in this one. Widely considered buck Miller is QB but they are also playing against Latwan Anderson.
Oh-oh oh-oh oh-oh Here comes the ban hammer.
UM should be recruiting Chris Robinson from Ovid-Elsie HS. Small school just north of Lansing, so, they don't get much pub. OEHS was State runner-up last year and Robinson came very close to breaking the state rushing record (got hurt in the championship game).

He is tremendous athlete and could help at safety/line backer or even RB (not an expert, but, I would think in the Brandon Minor mode).
"If you shoot me, you're liable to lose a lot of those humanitarian awards."
Really Tim? Really?
The reason Stevenson lost is because they aren't as good of a team as Howell. The Highlanders have won two straight years against Stevenson - this time with a sophomore QB playing his first game.
The real reason Stevenson lost is because Howell is a much better team.
Before I neg you I want you to notice what was actually written. He said had they given White the ball more they would have had a much better chance to come away with a win. never did he say they would win so before you get critical of what someone writes make sure you read what was actually written.
Oh-oh oh-oh oh-oh Here comes the ban hammer.
I can attest to there being very little legitimate talent in any of the Livonia schools... the only times they've been good is when one or two of their players are FBS level talents. Franklin a few years ago behind a back who garnered offers from most of the MAC (but ended up at Wayne State, I believe) and Stevenson behind Austin's Sparty brothers. Stevenson has nobody besides Austin.
When your team is winning, be ready to be tough, because winning can make you soft. On the other hand, when your team is losing, stick by them. Keep believing. -- Bo Schembechler
Courtney Avery from Lexington will face North Canton Hoover this Friday night. Hoover features the 2008 Mr. Football.

Sorry that I can't provide an update like I usually do as I was up north this past weekend and missed the game, but here are Jones' passing stats from this week: 9 of 15 for 129 yards and 1 TD.
The numbers weren't reported in the game article but were derived from the area leaders page (http://www.goupstate.com/article/20090908/NEWS/909089962/1088?Title=Week...).

MRob and DG are awesome.
