Keep the thread manageable.
Football only please.
Does Stoops start feeling heat if he loses another bowl. I know he shouldn't but no one is reasonable these days.
Re: Lloyd Carr
Jim Tressel...? By those standards anyway. Probably not likely.
I've spent a fair amount of time wondering what you do in tOSU's situation. You have a very good coach, but he's shown a consistent inability to win on the big stage. And yet, if you fire him, what are the chances of landing someone who performs at the same level each year?
Maybe they really are content with just beating us each year.
Of course everyone wants to win, but IIRC even BCS bowl losers get an insane amount of money. I'm sure the ADs are fine with that.
JT made 3 straight and won the first, let's see how long it takes to get back... OSU fans already calling for OC's head...
as for Stoops, 4 NC games in 9 years... hasn't been the bride in a while... it'll start to get too commonplace for the fans liking after 9 years...
The guy knows how to win, but not in bowls. I think he needs to do something because some of the play calling was bad. He seems to become a little conservative and holds back a little. I honestly think on that goal line stand they should have thrown it at least once. With a tight end like Greshen, why not?
OSU-MICH 2006 and OSU-TX this year and this appears to be a dog (from what I've seen). Perhaps the ending will bail the BCS out but I kinda hope not.
I hope it is a DEAD dog.
End of 3rd: M28, F28
Lloyd never felt any real heat. He retired on his own terms. He wanted to hand it up after '06 but Mary Sue and Martin begged him to come back. Lloyd could have coached as long as he wanted.
Jim, you probably have a lot more inside info than I do.
But, Lloyd did get some (!!!!) heat from this blog and others.
bo was, which i suspect to be true since bo hired him...then i seriously doubt he paid any mind to what any damn outsiders think
Oklahoma should be up 17, at least 10. This is frustrating
The early aggression was nice, just not the play calling that went with it.
may have gotten heat from fans, but not from the administration. If he didn't want to retire he would still be coaching.
Jim, (NOT sarcastic), any insight on why LC did retire?
The "not energized" just doesn't seem like enough to me.
he was ready to hang it up after '06 - but was convinced to come back for the seniors. After Henne/Hart/Long were gone, I guess he thought he had done it all and was ready to retire for sure.
I think the Oklahoma player did a bit of an extra twist at the end of the tackle. Want to see a replay. Good work Fox
I thought I saw that, too. Kind of fucked up if true.
it was like what a Wisco player did to Breaston in '06.
Didn't a buckeye crush Jim Sorgi's throat in one game, too?
Sorry, but the concept of "sportmanship" is a complete urban legend.
Football players are told to "punish" to other team.
Those plastic face shields are to reduce the other team trying to blind you.
All those "hits" on any player (especially the QB) after he is down are practiced over and over and over again.
That was on purpose.
Many old people retire. Especially from 80 to 90 hour a week jobs.
Any truth to the rumors about a rift in the athletic department? Any inside knowledge
Anyone think that these commercials for ATT are low grade snuff films.
That one where the reporter is standing in the parking lot and says "... and I'm about to become the news"? Freaks me out.
So, does he die??
You are watching the commercials?
Perhaps the second bottle of wine is inhibiting my ability to multi-task.
But, not my ability to press the "Review" button before I actually post this (it only took 4 tries to get it right -- I did get it right??).
I wish I was at this game...
to try to catch the millions of dollars which are flying out of Bradford's pocket. As a Lions fan, Do Not Want.
That was pretty incredible. What it would be like to have a good ball hawking safety.
I don't care if you like Florida or not.
That was a cool interception.
It was not a "cool" interception. The receiver FUCKED up.
What? A lot of interceptions are receivers messing up.
And I still disagree with you--that was pretty cool.
But maybe if you get angry and swear more I'll change my mind.
I love that shovel option play Florida runs. Is that in RR's repertoire?
So Lions fans (JHS, others), which of these quarterbacks do you want? I was really hoping Bradford was great and we coudl trade down. Not happening now.
The Lions will remain under the Barry Sanders curse for at least 50 years (Red Wings, Tigers, BoSox, etc.)
No matter what.
Never, ever RUSH JUST 3!!!!!
The "Rambox" commercial is idiotical. One guy does his best Howard Dean imitation when he discovers....."it's a toolbox, HeeaaAAAH!" the other morons sound like caricatures of inbred hillbillies. "you kin putt toolz -n- hammerz -n- stuff in nair"
Well, apparently their advertising strategy was to show it 100x a bowl game, in the hopes that it would get more palatable over time.
If Bradford goes to the Lions he will be the next Joey, I guarantee it.
You mean a touchdown would be baad here. Thanks commentator
Okay, apparently Stoops didn't watch the video from the 2008 CapOne bowl. On third and 12, you BLITZ THE HELL OUT OF TIM TEBOW. He cannot make an accurate throw under pressure. Geez. Is Shafer the DC for Oklahoma?
Oh, and I really can't wait until Tebow's Wonderlic results come in.
lions do not need to draft a qb
they need to go for andre smith the OT from alabama, someone that could anchor the line for sveral years
Lions need to draft interior (O or D). I am in the Orlovsky camp. It is a bit lonely.
Maybe this game mkes us realize we don't want a QB (I hate Stafford by the way).
look with the inside shovel, that needs to be added to the M playbook, or at least to NCAA '10
especially with the TE coming from the off side of the run direction, it's killer...
Whoa, is there audio on this video thingy??
Is that what this "mute" button does?
