This is a long way off, but Michigan's latest addition to the schedule is a quality one; the athletic department announced this morning that the Wolverines will play a home-and-home series against UCLA—[insert 'that's one way to get to the Rose Bowl' joke here]—in 2022 and 2023. Full release:

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan Athletic Department announced Thursday (Oct. 17) a two-game series with the UCLA Bruins scheduled for the 2022 and 2023 football seasons. This will be the Wolverines' first home-and-home series with a Pacific-12 Conference school since the early 2000s (Washington, 2001 and 2002; Oregon, 2003 and 2007).

The Bruins will travel to Michigan Stadium on Sept. 10, 2022, and the Wolverines will make the return trip to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., on Sept. 2, 2023.

These will be the 12th and 13th meetings between the two schools. Michigan holds an 8-3 edge in the all-time series, including a 5-1 mark at Michigan Stadium and a 2-1 record at UCLA (Rose Bowl). The two schools split a pair of bowl games against each other, with the Wolverines claiming a 33-14 victory in the 1981 Bluebonnet Bowl and the Bruins earning a 24-14 win in the 1983 Rose Bowl.

Michigan and UCLA last met during the regular season in 2000, a 23-20 victory by UCLA at the Rose Bowl.

I'm 18 right now. I may have kids by the time these games are played. And I'll be so old.

God this is scary to think about.

I'm rocking 29 right now and it is pretty sweet.  Married for a few years, no kids, all we do is Michigan games, friends, family, and whatever we want.  A bit of money to travel and buy some nice things.  Bills suck but work hard and play hard.  Life is fun.

I'm bumming b/c I will be 38 then. My dog will have passed on unless she lives to be 20 years old.  Anyone know the upside?

I'm with you. I'm 30 and having a job with no kids is pretty outstanding. I have the money to travel around the world and go to Michigan games. I got to go to the Sugar Bowl and the Final Four. So, I feel sorry for anyone who thinks that their teens were or are the best years of their life.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt that the so old comment was meant to be sarcastic, being that you left out the /s which is the universal sign of sarcasm on the Internet. In case you are not, I now hate everything about you...

I will miss playing ND but these new opponents are, so far, great replacements. I think Ball State is the only MAC school for the next several years past 2015. I has happy.

I'd love to have him, but it's tough to incentivize a guy to put in 70 hour weeks and to hit the trail recruiting when he's already earned hundreds of millions of dollars and his wife has earned hundreds of millions more than that.

We have a home-and-home with Utah in 2014 and 2015. That would be the first home-and-home Pac 12 matchup since the games mentioned if so...  But would Michigan's official site really get this wrong?

Maybe when we scheduled the 2014-15 Utah games, Utah wasn't in the Pac-12 yet, which would make this the first time we've scheduled a home-and-home against a Pac team since whenever we scheduled that Oregon debacle.

Wait a minute...I know I was at the September 23, 1989 meeting in Pasadena where Michigan used a late TD, onside kick and FG to win it 24-23 in the closing seconds... it was one of the best games I ever saw...paid 5$ for a ticket and sat in the UCLA alumni section, walked out with my head held high.

Besides playing Florida at a neutral site (why not do a home and home!! I went to Dallas, neutral sites suck) he's lined up some pretty good opponents to replace ND on the schedule.

As one who is quick to criticize Brandon, I figured I should mention when he gets it right.

How do we have a 2-1 Record at UCLA (Rose Bowl) if we lost in the last regular season game we played as well as the last Rose Bowl?

Two years after the 2023 game will be exactly 2 years away from my retirement. Well, I hope we are a good team and they can get more good games after 2025. I wonder if Hoke will be coaching the 2022 game?

was my last game as a student. After a disappointing season (preseason rank #1, opening loss to Wisky, etc.) it was a fun way to cap off the year. Got to go to Gilley's in Pasadena (NTP!) while it was still somewhat relevant, and we completely dominated the game. There was a great picture somewhere of both Bands together on the field, literally hanging out as one massive group. Good times....

Great that we will be playing a series with them, there have been some pretty wild UCLA-UM games.

With Michigan's huge alumni base in S CA, and having academic programs there (e.g., I know the B-school has a facility in L.A.), U of M should play twice every decade in S CA, whether it is UCLA, USC or even San Diego State if we can't get the first two (SDSU plays in an NFL-sized stadium, so plenty of room for rich alums in the suites).

I live in LA, am 34, just had my first kid, he's 4 months old.  He'll be ten(!) when the game in LA happens and it could be his first Michigan game.  Crazy.  Maybe he'll have a lil sister or brother then too.
