Florida just took a commitment from Travon Van (Scout 2, ESPN 40, Rivals NR). http://florida.scout.com/2/873291.html But not to worry, I am sure once he has some on-field success Urban Meyer will not have to keep slumming with these low-rated/unrated mystery kids.
wow. not even local talent. pulled a 2* from cali.
Van and Stephen Alli (ESPN 40, Scout and Rivals NR)have been under the radar guys. Meyer must not want to be outdone by RR at finding diamonds in the rough (lol). Maybe this will make some of you haters lighten up a little. The defending NC and winner of 2 of the last 3 is taking commitments from guys that M hasn't even offered. Of course they may have been the only two players left on the planet that didn't hold an M offer.
since rivals and scout are pushing to release rankings earlier and earlier every year i'm sure that a bunch of teams will find these so called 'diamonds in the rough'. that along with teams apparently offering earlier and earlier too. these diamond in the rough kind of guys probably will emerge as big prospects later on
Bravo. He did have good offers but point made.
agree. Point is good.
He's a 1-star on Scout, right? Which means he's NR on all three services.
Not rated isn't necessarily the same thing as low-rated, I would guess. If Michigan picked up a legitimate 2-star running back, I would be much more concerned than if the services just hadn't had the kid on their radar before his senior year.
