alternate headline: man does job
Beyahhhh!!!! (Said like the Senator)
we're not just going to New Hampshire, Tom Harkin.
I think Turner and Gallon might have a more immediate impact, but I think Toussaint will be a very good running back in a couple years. This is good news.
Good for him, it sounds like he has been working really hard to get everything in order. Hopefully this is a preview of a strong future for him.
(Virtual High Fives to everyone in the room... even the ND snoop)
Yay!!!(what is with the ND snoop? Why his he in a Mich blog?)
I used to read Blue Gray Sky and Rakes of Mallow a few times a week. I had to cut back though, I don't even read EDSBS during the offseason anymore.
as we speak
I like very much!
I love this kid last name.
still doesn't beat Mister Simpson. He would have made 3-9 seem so much more enjoyable, I'm sure of it.
I recall this kid who played for Tom Osbourn's Nebraska Cornhuskers name I.M.Hipp. This kid had the swagger, shiftiness along with the temperment allowing him to claim his name as a blessing, and not some curse that he had to live up too.
I'm making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS.
It's hard to overstate my satisfaction.
1 four Star down 2 more to go!
I am so happy I won't even make fun of Magnus!!!!
Fitz was the one I was most worried about for some reason...
I'm willing to bet that over half of your 53 points have come from talking TO me or ABOUT me. It's kind of creepy.
but endearing? In a creepy kind of way?
He just likes it when you look his way. Those big, dreamy internet eyes of yours...
YAY! Fitz qualified!
Of all the 2009 recruits I was the most excited about Fitz. Dude was BURNIN' past people in his highlight video. Hope he has an extremely productive career at UM and beyond!
Yay hooray I'm just happy for the mgopoint woo
Jesus piece was so harmless.
Oh, my grandfather picked it up and towed it back to base after the Battle of Monte Cassino. It used to be a church spire. The reason it doesn't look bigger is because I'm 14 feet tall.
you could play possession receiver now that Tacopants is gone.
That's some funny shit. Did he tow the briefs with the spire? Maybe I shouldn't call anything that big "briefs"
I listened to Webb this morning too, and I thought he said he was going to verify the information about Toussaint over the weekend before he made a definitive statement. Maybe he was referring to JT and Gallon...
Just listened to the WTKA Recruiting Roundup (Part II) podcast on wtka.com. Webb stated he heard that Toussaint is "OK" academically but needed to verify.
to kick ass! woo!
to kick ass! woo!
Do you get two points for double posting?
I remember I was pretty excited when Fitz first commited, he was receiving buzz similar to what Gallon and Smith (Vincent) have been receiving. He looked very impressive in his videos, it was hard to tell if he was that good or the opponents were not. He's a pretty stocky guy so he might get a shot this year; he's like 5'10" 190ish. It's great that he made the cut :)
This is good. Hopefully the first of a few positives about recruits qualifying.
Also stated in the recruiting roundup was that Devin Gardner was a better reciever than Ricardo Miller at the camp...
Devin Gardner must be a monster of an athlete. I mean I knew he was athletic, but it was surprising to hear that he was doing better at WR then Ricardo. Sam said that no one could stop him. Not even Dior or Mylan.
Perhaps we need to start looking for another two quarterbacks...:)
Methinks he could go Pryor Fiesta-style, yes?
a quote from Brian's entry today,
"Sometimes I watch a player and I see another level of speed. That is what I saw the first time I took a look at Toussaint. … He ran a 10.7-second 100-meter time as a freshman. Last year he ran a 10.59 100-meter and clocked a 21.79 200-meter time. That is an entirely different level of speed."
Is 10.7 and 10.59 truly that different? 0.11 seconds, that's like START! STOP!. Or perhaps shorter, depending on how good you read, but I find it difficult to see this as impulse power versus warp factor One.
I tend to agree, but remember this. When you're charging down the field with a defender the same speed as you right on your heels, you only have to be one trillionth faster than you are right then for a short gain to become a touchdown.
... a tenth in the world of Track & Field is fairly significant (at least it is in the 100m).
When he said "This is an entirely different level of speed" he wasn't comparing Fitz's 10.59 to his 10.7. He was comparing Fitz's speed to other running backs. As in, "since FT ran a 10.7 as a freshman and now has run a 10.59, he is on an entirely different level of speed than other running backs."
However, in the 100m, .11 is fairly significant. A lot of times that's the difference between first and last place.
I love his name and potential, so I am pleased!
If it was such a close call for FT to qualify, do you think he will be able to make the grade once on campus?
I don't know how much academic assistance he had in high school. At Michigan, he will have tutors, study hours, and any possible assistance he might need.
Some kids, especially athletes, are much smarter than their grades reflect. The reason I say athletes is because if you're a kid who knows he's playing college football, and is getting offers from plenty of schools, you don't need your grades to be fantastic. Maybe you're a kid capable of a 3.2, but you know that the 2.7 you're carrying is good enough to qualify, and doing any better gets you nothing.
This is a lot different than a kid who works his ass off and gets a 2.7. Most of us on here worked hard in high school because the difference between a 3.6 and a 3.9 made a big difference in what college you went to. For a future athlete, it makes no difference.
In college he can avoid whatever classes gave him the most trouble. In high school you can't dodge writing or math or any of it.
Toussaint is looking pretty good in the Big 33 game. He currently has 2 touchdowns thru 3 quarters. 1st one as a 43 yard reception, second a 5-7 yard run.
What is this Big 33 game you whippersnappers keep referring to?
OT - I'm very excited because Firefox didn't underline "whippersnappers" in red after I typed it.
PA v. OH All-Star Game for the class of 2009.
