Plus, there is a huge difference when you take into account slowing down to make a cut. Some guys do that a lot better than others. If you just run in a straight line, angles will get you. Nobody ever claimed Barry Sanders would win many 100 yard dashes, but he was still too fast to catch.
Denard Robinson is fast fast.
Trent Morgan fast?
I still have nightmares about that guy blowing tackles. Never mention the name again.
You are a great Michigan fan.
what do you mean by that?
I bet you can figure it out.
Another fan cheering for victories rather than Michigan.
I cheer for Michigan victories... where does that put me? If I'm cheering for Michigan, does that mean I have to cheer for losses as well? Are you saying he's cheering equally hard for the opponent when they are victorious over us?
I have so many questions...
There's a difference between cheering Michigan, and cheering for a team merely because they frequently win. Shitting on a kid that wore the uniform for 3 years because Trent may have, at some point, cost the poster the chance to glory in a Michigan win, is, in my opinion, shitty. Trent wore the uniform, represented the school with class, and was a leader. He doesn't deserve our scorn.
Stevie Brown called.
I would have no problem substituting Brown for Trent in the above paragraph. Requesting that Trent be stricken from memory because the kid failed "UMDad" in some way, shape, or form, make me see red.
You're right. I failed to remember he had said "Never speak of his name again." That's complete bullshit, and while I think you stated it in a strange way, I agree completely.
Blindly cheering for crappy players must be a chicago thing. I didn't say boo the kid during the game, but we are not talking about the little guy who gets to play late in a high school football game. This guys was starting for several years on a big time college program and chased more tail than Bill Clinton. Am I gald I don't have to see him jogging into the endzone while the opposing player flips the ball to the ref, YES. I would like to see my team win, not give it the old cubbies try.
a) I didn't realize that "chasing tail" was such a horrible thing for an unmarried college student. Fuck [name redacted] - he tried to have sex in college!
b) Can you go be a fan of another school?
Hey Magnus, by "chasing tail" I think he meant running after WR's who blew past him, not trying to have sex. I'm not defending him, but I think you misunderstood what he meant.
You've said all you need to - you root for Michigan because they're good, not because you actually like Michigan. Go get fucked.
Ok, now you're just being an asshole.
No one ever said you have to go tell your friends how amazing Morgan Trent is, but have a little respect for someone who did everything he could for Michigan's football team. Saying, "I don't think Morgan Trent was very good" is one thing, but saying, "Don't say his name again" is not only disrespectful, but just showcases how big a dick you are.
I don't think people realize that:
A) Trent was originally recruited as a Wide Receiver
B) Trent performed much better in '07 when Vance Bedford was his DB coach and not Scott Shafer
C) Trent probably would've been a better fit at Safety than at Cornerback
In any case, Morgan Trent does not deserve even half the shit that he has taken from fans. Our entire defense struggled last year, not just Stevie Brown & Morgan Trent.
Morgan Trent suffered for more than just one year. I also think it was more of a knock on the inability to bring in someone better, or the inability to judge practice play from game play.
1) Trent played well in 2006 and 2007.
2) You never criticized recruiting, or coaching. You critcized Morgan Trent.
Are you sleeptyping?
When you're done digging yourself into this hole, can I fill it back in on top of you?
Percy Harvin....dude that alone makes him a legend in my mind.
I don't give a shit if Trent played poorly. He was out there working his ass off for 5 years, and, by accounts, was a good kid. In my mind, as a fan of a college team, you should cheer for the kids, not rejoice in their departure. Morgan Trent did more, and meant more to the program than UMDad, or whoever the fuck he is, can ever imagine doing. This guy thinks he's justified in shitting on Trent's amateur athletic career because Trent, sometimes, may heve prevented this guy from gloating at the water cooler.
Who are you, Trent's cousin? He did more for the program? Are you kidding me? He got to go to a great university for free and earn a degree that will translate, hopefully, into a successful post football career. I paid my way through school there and, therefore, paid for Trent to even get to go to school.
So, in other words, it's your fault that [name redacted] got a scholarship? You bastard.
Actually, I feel that the football players, in particular, more than earn their keep based on hte stupid amount of money the University makes off of them, but I was pissed.
You didn't pay a fucking cent for Trent to go to school. The AD is financially autonomous. Trent paid for himself to go to school by being part of an organizations that generates hundreds of millions of dollars a year. Trent, actually paid for probably 20 non-revenue-sport athletes scholarships to the University. Keep digging.
Great shirt, but if the wrong person sees that, there is a chance that you can get beat up.
And, who are you to judge what kind of fan someone is based on their like or dislike of a player. Am I to assume you have never lowered yourself to utter a negative remark about Justin Boren, or Mark Dantonio, of Jim Tressel, etc?
1) I don't cheer for Ohio State. Me saying something about Tressell, and me saying something about a 3-year starter on my alma mater are two completely different things.
2) I think you'll find that I am one of the first people here to tell people to STFU when they rag on Dantonio or Tressel.
This is insane. I don' think Trent was a very good cb, and joked that I dind't want to hear his name again. You are acting like I went to his house and dumped trash in his lawn. Obviously, based on your 2000 points, you have an opinion on everything, but maybe you need to relax a little bit.
If you were joking, all you had to do to stop all of this was reply immediately saying something to the effect of, "That was a joke" or "/s" or something. Instead, you went off about how you were completely justified and payed for Trent's scholarship and people who criticize Boren are doing the same thing you are.
Maybe you need to get not retarded a bit.
I am wondering if it is possible to disagree here without calling each other retarted or telling each other to "go fuck yourself" as I believe your chicago friend said.
Hey, I said "Get fucked". You don't have to do that yourself.
You are obviously not a fan of this blog. A true fan would not shit on my months of hard work by demeaning me. 'That makes me see red.'
This comment is weird to the point that I sincerely believe there is an evil spirit living inside UMdad which makes him spout nonsense.
1. Because you shit all over Morgan Trent's abilities, the people who call you out on your unwarranted negativity are "obviously not fans.....of this blog?" First of all, one has nothing to do with the other, and secondly, what weird world of blog allegiance do you live in? We come here with a common interest in Michigan athletics, not in Michigan blogging. I'm not a "fan" of any blog, and specifying your assholedness wouldn't detract from my hypothetical fanhood if I were.
2. "A true fan would not shit on my months of hard work by demeaning me." Hard work? Because I'm totally awesome and nice, I assumed you meant the months you put in at the University of Michigan getting your degree, an accolade which, in your mind, gives you carte blanche to disrespect the school's student athletes. But then I realized you meant months of hard work COMMENTING on a fucking WEBSITE. Yikes.
3. Why is this in quotes?
Sorry, this was a sarcastic reference to a running argument where I am getting slammed as a poor michigan fan because I questioned Morgan Trent's abilities and was, therefore, "shitting in his athletic career."
"I'm not a 'fan' of any blog."
This hurts. Touch the Banner was recently voted the Best Blog in the Universe by my mom and my Aunt Laurie.
WHAT?! When did women get the vote?
if typing comments at MGoBlog is "hard work" to you you must have had one hell of an easy life.
