I don't really have any evidence but does anyone else think our run D is possibly suffering from the emphasis Shafer puts on sacks/pass rush? Our big boys up front shouldn't be gashed so hard up the middle I had thought. Not that MiaOH got a lot of rush yards overall but we seemed soft up the middle IMO. I'll have to sleep on it.

Who is supposed to maintain contain in this defense? It seemed that a lot of the runs were initially stuffed, but the runing back could just bounce outside to pick up five yards or so. Was the DE on that side pushing in too much, or was he expecting the OLB to be there if that happened?
It's more on the linebackers IMO. Read HTTV 2008 to get an understanding why our run D got significantly worse from 2006 to 2007. We have two sophomores (Mouton and Ezeh) and a JUCO transfer (Panter) starting on LB corp, so alot of inexperience. It will improve throughout the year.
