Good Monday to everyone:
On Saturday night the Big Ten Network replayed the Illinois meltdown from 2008. A couple things stood out to me that I thought could turn into things to discuss:
(1) I had forgotten about the play where Stevie Brown ran down Juice Williams at the 1 after a 40 yard breakaway run. That was a very impressive shoe string tackle. I realize the context stinks, but Brown made a very good play and given the grief he takes (sometimes justifiably), I think he deserves credit when putting forth effort like that.
(2) Thank God Tate doesn't do the handclap prior to a snap. At least, he didn't do it at the spring game. My wife picked it up and asked why they'd give away the pending snap.
(3) I'm not certain if Threet was injured by this point, but his passing was just terrible. Odoms (yes, Odoms BlueSeoul) made a couple fantastic adjustments on horribly thrown passes. Plus, Odoms had a really good kickoff return in the first half (second half, errr).
(4) The defense had no idea what it was doing. Just awful. It can't be worse this year. Can it?
