Commits To Invade Ann Arbor Comment Count

Brandon Brown

Team 135

Maybe four of these guys will wear that number at Michigan, but go ahead and update your NCAA dynasty anway

With the regular season in the books and almost three weeks until the bowl game the upcoming weekend has turned into a commit party, with almost every committed 2014 prospect planning to be in attendance. There are a couple that can’t make it and with good reason but the coaches are expecting almost every future member of Team 135 on campus.

Visiting Commits

DT Brady Pallante

DB Jabrill Peppers

OL Juwan Bushell-Beatty

DB Brandon Watson

WR Freddy Canteen

WR Drake Harris

LB Chase Winovich

OL Mason Cole

DE Lawrence Marshall

QB Wilton Speight

TE Ian Bunting

LB Jared Wangler

WR Moe Ways

LB Noah Furbush (was told by other recruits he will be there)

RB Vic Enwere (Currently committed to Cal, was recently visited by Fred Jackson, wants to wait until signing day to make final decision)

Not Visiting

LB Michael Ferns – Ferns used his official visit for the Ohio State game and won’t be able to make the trip this weekend. His parents are busy with basketball season for his younger siblings and Michael is very busy finishing up his coursework as he prepares for early enrollment.

DT Bryan Mone – In about a month Mone will also enroll early and has decided that the lengthy trip from Utah isn’t necessary since he’ll be in Ann Arbor on a more permanent basis very soon.

-------------------------------------------

The closeness and camaraderie that this class has developed since Ferns first committed over a year ago has always been apparent from the joke-tweeting back and forth between them and the Project 135 campaign created by Ferns and his family. All of the recruits seemed very excited to be getting together this weekend and the visit should help to solidify that bond as signing day nears.

If anything changes or any other names surface I will update as needed.

Well...I'm sure there were SOME people who thought all those guys would start at some point. Personally, I liked Jake Ryan and Desmond Morgan when they were coming out of high school. I wasn't as high on Clark, Gordon, or Glasgow, but there were others who liked those guys more.

I agree that you never know how these guys are going to develop, but I think the larger point is that the coaches think Pallante can be a good contributor or else they wouldn't have offered him. No coach offers a kid thinking "Hell, this kid will never get on the field."

There is no doubt in my mind that he is going to be at Michigan, seeing how he already signed a LOI to EE.

I will say I wouldn't be shocked if he ended up transferring somewhere closer to home. That being said, implying a player will transfer before he even steps foot on campus is just wrong. The article on his family was an excellent read. Honestly I wish we could move the whole Mone bunch up here, violations be damned!

From what I have learned about him, Bryan Mone is a remarkable young man. I am so excited for him to be apart of the UofM football team, and having someone like that represent Michigan on and off the field should make this fanbase proud.

Looking at that pic just gives me chills thinking about years ago when our d was so awesome. Those guys played tough B1G football defense back then...Rene was former wrestler, like the dt from Flo.

and I'm hearing Keith Jackson talk about Michigan's Big Uglies on defense anchored by sophomore Rob Renes.

I'm waxing nostalgic but I can still hope that Michigan can someday soon reprise their dominance.  How great it would be if my grandsons could grow up with their own version of the 10 year war.

was heavy weight wrestling state champ for multiple years.  He also set some freshmen strength records when he came in (number of reps or total weight bench press).  He also was a hell of a nice guy with a 4.0 coming out of high school. He was only 6'1" though and came from West Ottawa, which was far from a powerhouse or even good football school (I think they won 4 games while I was in high school).

I don't get into the RECRUITIN' aspect of college sports as much as some...just feels a little more obsessive than I'd like to admit...but are all incoming classes as slose-knit as this group seems to be?  These guys seem like a team already, and that makes me feel good for the program.

No, they're not. I feel like this class got off to a good start partly because they got a QB commit early (Speight), and that QB has done a great job of connecting with his fellow commits. It was speculated when he committed that one of the reasons the coaching staff pursued him was because of his leadership, and it seems like he's doing a pretty good job of that so far. On the field, I liked several other quarterbacks more than Speight, but if he can inspire his teammates, that's a big part of creating a good team.
