Colorado-WVA

Anyone out there watching this game? I actually give espn a little creative credit for the John Denver Bowl moniker. Although maybe they swiped it from a blog or something.

Here's what caught my eye. The powerful WVA offense has only scored 1 TD in its last 6 quarters. Getting the ball to start the second half, they had a weak three and out. They averaged 39.6 points per game last season and have eight starters on offense back. This team lacks an identity right now.

Watching Pat White pass the ball and a bizarre fact hits me: Steven Threet is the best passer Rodriguez will have coached in a long time, if ever even going back to his assistant days.

We'll see if he can use him and be more competitive in the Big 10 race than people expect.

Everytime I see Pat White

Everytime I see Pat White throw a worse ball than I could between the hashes, I laugh really, really hard at the WVU fans that kept saying RR was a terrible coach and wouldn't let Pat White throw and that's why he got hurt and why they lost because he fumbled and boo hooo hooooo...(burns couch).

Make no mistake....

.....ShockFX. The reason WVA has yet to live up to their preseason billing is because of the coaching change, on many levels. Stewart just cant get these guys to play as sharp as RR could. The edge is not there.

You should try and find clippings of Stewart's pressers the last two weeks. They were priceless for their unintentional comedy.

Of course, as I bash, the 'Neers' are back on the move.

I'm not sure it's about

I'm not sure it's about "living on the edge".  Pat White throwing 20 times a game is a disaster unless it's 20 screen passes to Devine.  They are suddenly moving in this game as they start to let Pat White run not pass between the hatches for 3 yards.

That

facemask bailed WVA out right there.

Are they really going on a 99-yard TD drive. They're half way there. Maybe this drive changes their season.

Big big run by Devine to get them out of the goaline shadow.

exciting game

I've been watching with the sound off - what the hell was the deal when WVU had a 2nd and 25 - seemed like that series went on for hours.

I just turned the game on.

I just turned the game on.  The CU RB Stewart looks like he has some tools.  I heard that CU landed the best RB in the country last year.  Is that the kid?

no, you're thinking of

no, you're thinking of darrell scott who was highly touted and thought of as the best overall RB in the country for the 2008 class. the other freshmen was a very low recruit out c'bus. only 5'6 but ripping it up. he started at 4, 5 on the depth chart at CU in preseason.

What is that on the CU

What is that on the CU players shoulders?  It looks like their unis have some odd material over the shoulders.  high friction material, perhaps??

Darrell Scott is the big running back recruit - this Stewart kid looks good.

It seems like the buffs always have a couple of nice rbs on the roster.

Stewart

Rodney Stewart is a freshmen.

He was a 2-star recruit per Rivals.

He is from Columbus! Iowa, Toledo and Akron were the other primary suitors for him.

He's 5/7, 170 lbs, while Darnell Scott, the 5-star, is 6-foot, 205.

WVU

looks good when they play to their strengths (running the damn ball) - but seriously Pat White cannot throw.

White is envious of Sheridan's arm.

How about

the fact that CU just had a huge, break out win on national TV.

And, did so by riding the back of the 2-star rated freshman running back.

I hope the folks who get all giddy and cranky about recruiting rankings take note.

You learn something every day...

I didn't know that winning an early-season nonconference game against the 21st ranked team was cause for rushing the field.

Hmm.

So if there is a minute

So if there is a minute left, you have two timeouts, and you are at midfield, what do you do?  If you are Bill Stewart, you let the clock run out and try a Hail Mary, and then lose the game in overtime.  West Virginia fans, this is for you:

I love to see the students

I love to see the students rush the field.  Doesn't matter what the opponent's rank is.

Was it two years ago that Colorado won only two games?  Obviously not as big of a win as the Oklahoma game last year, but good for CU.

Shiiiiiiit. If I were a WVU

Shiiiiiiit. If I were a WVU fan, I'd be pissed. They had the ball, on their own 45, with 1:15 left and 2 timeouts...and they ran FOUR PLAYS. That's motherfucking amateur hour.

Then, your top tailback can't make it out on the field because of a helmet malfunction...and you save the fucking timeouts AGAIN? Oy.

It's shameful, because from halftime on, Colorado made no effort to win this game - they were run-run-pass-punt for all but one possesion in the second half.

Does anyone else find it hard

Does anyone else find it hard to make fun of coach Stew?  He's so nice, and happy, and utterly out of touch with reality... kind of like a retarded person.

I'm not sure how much

I'm not sure how much increased shoulder friction is going to help tackling, but something like that to cover the arms might enhance a defenders ability to make arm tackles.

Likewise, slippery unis could have a benefit for offensive players.  McGuffie in a telfon suit...

Extension!

Given last week's precedent, it's time to give Stewart a contract extension!

I don't get it

What was wrong with the clock management?  It seemed perfectly reasonable to me, actually I need to try it like that sometime.
