The Coaching Search Banners, For Posterity Comment Count

Brian

Way back in the paleolithic era I swapped my blogger theme out for a pink, kitten-centric one and never had the sense to screencap it. Someone else did but I can't recall where and now I think that may be lost to the mists of time. In an effort to prevent any further hysterics from falling down the memory hole, here's a compilation of Six Zero's banners from the last week or so of our lives.

First Rodriguez got the axe and it was Harbaugh to the rescue:

cc-banner

Then Harbaugh exploded a la Scanners and rumors got weirdly gumbo-shaped:

cc-banner-2

Then Miles fell through and the only options were Brady Hoke and the ghost of John Gruden:

cc-banner-3

And this is the current banner, complete with the cheesy pun because if we've learned anything in the past ten days it's good lord Brady Hoke has the most wince-generating last name in the history of newspaper headlines:

cc-hoke

May we all return to this post and laugh when Hoke goes 5-1 against Ohio State and the blog puts together a Brady Hoke statue drive.

"...when Hoke goes 5-1 against Ohio State..."

After a 5 year undefeated run the football world finally forces UM to move up and play in the NFL in 2016, thus resulting in the forfeiture of the remaining games on our collegiate schedule and Hoke's only blemish against Ohio State.

When will our fan base start to value our record against Nebraska (it being more meaningful for conference play than OSU) than our current rivals?

I'm thinking it'll reach ND status in 3 years, Sparty status in 6, and OSU near status in 10.

Thanks, Delany!

I like the implied symbolism...regardless of whether it was ever meant to be implied, very fitting for a current reflection on our Program:

Hope springs eternal in the human breast;
Man never Is, but always To be blest:
The soul, uneasy and confin'd from home,
Rests and expatiates in a life to come.

Loved the evolution of the banner.  It was fun to watch.  My favorite is when the MGoJet was added.  I wonder if it was used as a decoy, per DB's comments.  I will forever remember the registration number N929SR!

Nice to see, in the aftermath of the RR firing, how people are feeling love for BH.  Now, he just has to win!  Will always feel RR was not treated fairly by the majority of the press, while recognizing the defensive failure was his true demise.  Why is BH's lack of polish celebrated while RR's was hated?  Only because he's our kind from our area.  Have always and will always hate the press.  They act self-righteous while they have an agenda like anybody else who is trying to earn a dollar.

Can there be Hoke MGoShirts?  Or even a N29SR one?  Just a thought...

Focus for me is recruiting and filling out of coaching staff.  DC hire will be HUGE.  Looking forward to spring game to see what it all looks like just out of the box.

Do you think DB is excited he is still on the banner?  I bet he is.  Although I wish that badass Championship M ring Hoke was wearing that day was in the picture...

"I sense great vulnerability. A man-child crying out for love. An innocent orphan in the post-modern world."

"I see a parasite. A sexually depraved miscreant who is seeking only to gratify his basest and most immediate urges."

"His struggle is man's struggle. He lifts my spirit."

"He is a loathesome, offensive brute. Yet I can't look away."

"He transcends time and space."

"He sickens me."

"I love it."

"Me too."

On a scale from 1-10, how annoying were those multiple posts begging/ordering you to change the banner over the past several days? If I was a betting man, I'd say it was up around an 8.5 . . .

It fits for now.  Let's see how the season starts and go from there.  I am so glad you have pushed aside (ok, so yourfaking it for now)  your complete feelings of desperation and loss.  Thanks for the effort and the explanation of chuckie.

Dig the banner, coach Hoke is the real deal. The guy is a straight up hard working coach that earns your respect quickly and doesn't mind taking the hard road to get where he wants to be.
