Carty is going to law school, but he clearly isn't leaving sport journalism because he still blogs, picks up contract work (e.g., his piece in the NY Times on OSU-MSU) and does call-ins with WTKA. He just quit writing his column for the News, which probably gives him a much more flexible schedule because he's not required to produce x number of column inches per week.
