Carr at Syracuse?

I hope not -- I'd hate having to hear how "Lloyd was forced out" and "Lloyd didn't want to be at Michigan anymore."  Yuck.

Oh God.  This is likely not true, but damn I would be upset if it was.  Talk about tarnishing your legacy.

I find it very doubtful that Carr is looking to coach somewhere else.  And that program in particular needs a lot of work.  It's going to require someone with a lot of energy to do scads of recruiting and a lot player development.  I can't see Carr doing this given that he was becoming more hands off every day.

Of when Bo was the AD and indicated that he'd be calling Bobby Knight in his search for a basketball coach, and there was all sorts of internet-type buzz (before the internet era) effectively saying "OMFG Bobby Knight is going to leave Indiana and become the Michigan coach!!1!"  Bo was simply calling Knight because they were friends and he wanted some advice about possible names in his coaching search - which, of course, never materialized because Steve Fisher miraculously led the '89 team to the National Championship (Praise Be Unto Glen Rice, Rumeal Robinson, et al.).

Dollars to doughnuts, Carr is in Syracuse to provide some advice to the AD in his planning for the future of their football team.  I'd bet if we did some research we'd find out that they went to high school together or some such thing.

i dont know why but i would love to see this happen and then um hav a non conference game with syracuse. but coming back to reality, i dont think carr is willing to rebuild

In Ann Arbor, including one for my kid's school earlier this week.  I don't see it.  Giving advice, yes.  Applying, no.

Probably giving golf advice, if the football program keeps going the way it is some of the folks at syracuse are gonna need it.

i can't see this happening. lloyd is all maize and blue. he left b/c he was getting tired of handling all the rigors of coaching. anyway, time to drink copious amounts.

Maybe they want to know what he thinks about hiring Mike DeBord?

As your resident SU alumnus, I can't express how excited I am about the possibility of Coach Carr being a part of my other alma mater.  That said, I'm not sure he's the answer for a program that needs someone who can recruit the northeast and implement an offense that is tailored to playing our home games indoors.  Personally, I'm hoping for SU alumnus and current UConn head coach Randy Edsall or ECU coach Skip Holtz.

yeah, I think if anything Carr was asked to consult on a good hire for Cuse.  He's a very well respected man who's been part of College Football for 30 years.  His knowledge is coveted.

Carr was worn out and tired of the coaching grind.  In contrast to most other coaches, some of whom don't know when to hang it up (ahem, JoePa), Carr realizes there is more to life than being a coach.  He loves to read, travel, do charitable works and spend time with his family.  Why would he take a massive rebuilding job in a strange conference, hundreds of miles from Ann Arbor? 

In addition, why would SU want to hire a 60+ year old coach, even if it is Carr?   Yes, I know FAU has an much older coach in Howard Schnellenberger, but that's a gimmick, not a long-term plan.  No doubt that Syrcuse wants a head coach who will bring the program back to respectibility and stick around to maintain it there.  Look for SU to hire somebody young but with proven head coaching experience, e.g., Buffalo's coach.  

maybe he was consulting how to beat pittsburgh? i imagine it had to be more defensively as i dont think carr would have tought how to return that KO, nor do I remember many wheel routes for touchdowns.

Yeah, this has to be an advisory thing.  One guy they might really be looking at: Brady Hoke, who's 5-0 this year at Ball State.  Hoke is a former Carr assistant, so Lloyd would have some firsthand knowledge to share with Syracuse about him.
