good luck with that
Can the comments look more like Haloscan?
I'd like to add a vote for some sort of text comment section - I tend to read the comments on my Treo, etc., while on the train to/from work or when stranded at an airport. These beautiful comments look like crap on that little device and I'm going to spend most of my train ride refreshing the page to see the next set of comments.
I do like the look of the site, though, and realize that as a lurker I probably shouldn't presume to speak up on Launch Day...
But a big thumb's up for moving baseball talk to the sidebar!
I guess the blog comment sections I've preferred have always looked really tightly integrated with the site. These look more like message board posts, which may not be ideal since you are trying to differentiate between the comments and the board.
Also, this may just be me, but a subject line seems kind of useless for a comment. With the new rules, shouldn't the comments be on the subject of the post itself?
From my point of view, the most important part of a comment in the content itself, followed by personal info, followed by the timestamp. After that, the rest is kind of irrelavent. Included in that is the threading, I guess. I've never really read a comments section and was disappointed that it was flat.
I have a little bit of experience and a lot of free time if you want any help.
