Bryce Brown goes into the home stretch, errr fast.

Bryce Brown will be finally making his college decision this Monday, assuming he doesn't put it off again or his "adviser" advises him to hold off.

What is interesting is that he will be "fasting" to gain a closer relationship to God to help him make his decision. Yeah, forcing yourself into a glucose deprived stupor is going to help him. This kid is a bit mentally unstable if you ask me and I know this to be true because I am an internet psychiatrist. I have the .pdf diploma to prove it.

Frankly, Brown ought to be ineligible, as he's hired an agent. An agent by any other name still stinks like one. And the guy's been a big negative for Brown anyway - didn't even bother to read the LOI Miami faxed him and was totally surprised by its expiration.

Meaning what? Here's an article:

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/04/sports/ncaafootball/04recruit.html?_r=...

"Butler left his $65,000-a-year job as the manager of a cellphone call center to work with high school players full time in January 2008. He charges from $70 to $200 a month for training sessions and $450 a player for recruiting consulting services."

Butler doesn't do what he does out of the goodness of his heart because he's a close relative or good family friend. Paying for training sessions - well, that's basically just like going to the gym only more expensive. Nothing wrong with that really. But "recruiting consulting services"? If it walks like an agent and quacks like an agent....Sounds to me like Brown has an agent representing him, no matter how often he's called a "mentor" or a "handler."

if you actually knew he was being paid. The original article didn't mention it. Also, there are a lot of people who do this and there are companies designed to handle recruiting for players. The one I know of is used by non-star players (NAIA, DII, & 1AA level) to get film out and build awareness and also because these coaches at small schools have a hard time finding the right kids because there are so many of them out there. My buddy used a company like that because he wanted to play anywhere but wasn't good enough to warrant a D-1 scholarship.

I'm not saying that Butler is legit, just saying that it's more likely to be legit since he is a business and not a 'family friend' like in the OJ Mayo case. Neutral third party of sorts.

My love for that Boats and Hoes scene from Step Brothers aside; why is it so "crazy" to fast? Just because someone has different views than you do doesn't mean they are "crazy." I don't fast unless a doctor tells me to do so, but if he feels it will help him out with the process then who are you to say what he is doing is "crazy?" I am sure you did some things when you were 17 or 18 that, when thinking back on them now, were pretty "crazy." Let the kid be already.

I don't fault him for believing in God and it's not a quesiton of his "religion" if that's what you want to call it. But what is the point of making a big deal about at at this time? It's all about PR and marketing. IOW, this is all BULL SHIT.

People have been all over his ass about the way he's making his decision. This decision could make or break his career and his life. Why does it matter to you? Why does his lack of a decision make him a worse person? Does this mean that everyone who signed on National Signing Day is completely sane and normal? Did they all make perfect decisions then, but now that he's had extra time, he's going to make a worse one?

I'm a recruiting fanatic. I spend way too much time on Rivals and on here. I can tell you heights and weights and statistics and anecdotes and blah blah blah.

But I don't give a rat's ass who the kid asks for guidance or how much he eats before his decision.

Blaming other people or a deity for your mistakes is a cop-out.

What if a guy screwed up and he was like, "Well, my parents didn't teach me right."

Or what if a guy said after getting a taunting penalty, "Well, my coach never told me not to taunt someone."

You praise other people, and you accept blame for your own actions. If somebody bashed God for their shortcomings, you'd probably jump on them for it. Apparently, it's a lose-lose situation.
