Don't F up the next hire.  Better be harbaugh, harbaugh, Miles, or Mullen.  We are counting on you to demonstrate you are worthy of the AD position.  Makes us proud.

Hoke was a great guy and by all accounts an amazing father figure to a lot of the players.  You can tell by the way the team is reportedly reacting.  Tough to see him go, but after all, this is a 'business of wins' and he didn't do a sufficient job.

I wish him the best moving foward and just as much luck to the football team to endure this trying time during the coaching search.

I wanted SO much for Hoke to work out (but I agree with this decision).  I loved the way he opened here with a bang, said all the right things, loves Michigan, and by all accounts worked his butt off to make a go of it. I'll never forget the tickets for that sick kid in Ohio and his family.  Reading the comments on 11 Warriors made me appreciate Hoke, and it was an insight into the man.  It's not always about blocking and tackling, Xs & Os, wins or losses.

I know some on this Board say he set the program back, but that's not really true.  The cupboard isn't even remotely bare, and the QB situation will be fine with first team reps, proper coaching, and the right system.  It may be that Hoke's legacy is what he accomplished on the recruiting trail.

Best of luck to Coach Hoke and his family.  I urge the haters to look at the reaction of his players, and understand they know a bit more about the man than we do.

Brady is a great guy, who was loved by his players and loved the school undividedly.  He just was not a good enough coach to cut it at Michigan.  Sad to see a guy fail at something he clearly wanted so badly, but desire doesn't always cut it in CFB.  Best of luck wherever you end up Brady.

In before server crash! In all seriousness, this is step 2 of a 3 part process that began with Brandon's dismissal. We have to hope the third step- acquiring a new coach- goes well. Cautiously optimistic. Also, come on Lloyd: patch it up with Miles. Go Blue

Outside of the 7 out of the last 8 Detroit Lions HC's, you'll be hard pressed to find a more perfect example of the peter principle at work.  Great guy, great position coach, adequate mid major HC, promoted beyond his skillset.  Best of luck, Mr. Hoke.  Sorry your dream job didn't work out.

we really dodged a bullet here...had hoke won a couple more games this year he would have been on track to keep us mediocre for the next 10 years....

It all depends on the new coach.  No one will leave until the new coach is named unless they were going to leave anyway (and remember, every offseason has some transfers, so you can't blame all of them on the coaching change).  After that, the amount of attrition will depend on how big of a name the HC is (kids aren't going to transfer is it's someone exciting to play for) and what kind of a scheme they employ.

If we bring in a coach who doesn't use TEs or FBs or something like that, you might see those guys go.  But I don't expect we'll see much attrition at all.

While he wasn't able to perform to our high expectations it always seemed he had the players in mind. He left the cupboard stacked full of talent for the next coach. I wish him luck spending his millions and hope he is not forever shunned by the Michigan fanbase

We'll see how the presser goes, but this has transpired quickly and as expected thus far.  The tougher part will be finding a new HC, but Hackett could certainly have quite easily screwed this up given his lack of prior experience in the role.  The Florida-Muschamp situation was different, so I view the timing of this as spot on.

since the 'good man' mantra will be repeated 1000 times in this thread, will someone tell me how BH was 'a good man'?  There are more than several examples of him not being a good man.  Just curious where the AGM (a good man) thing comes from.

Thanks for the effort, Brady. Sorry your dream job didn't work out, but hopefully you can take some time to lick your wounds, go travel with your family, and get away from the game for a while. I'm hoping you can come back and coach somewhere next year.

I don't doubt that you gave 100% of your effort every day, but sometimes things just don't work out. Hope you have success wherever you go next.

I don't know him personally so I only have second hand accounts to go on.  But have you ever heard a person say a bad word about Hoke as a person?  Not a fan, but someone who actually knows him?  Because I literally haven't heard a single one, yet I've heard from a number of people who have known him for a very long time say how great he is.  What more do you want?

one at Ball State where he had players climb stairs in the bitter cold for punishment. The Morris incident is a dubious claim as these chaps cannot possibly prove that he left Morris out there with a concussion. Neither Morris or his parents have issues with Hoke, but these fans do.

It's really record-driven indignation. They, of course, won't admit this. But it is. Sanctimony is never a positive trait to possess.

More than several examples of him not being a good man?  I'd like to hear them.  If one of them is the concussion thing, that was more of a screw up than him being a bad person, at least how I understood it.  I don't think he honestly felt Shane wasn't able to go but left him in anyway.  Some things are easier to see with TV replays and such.  Outside of that, what do you have?

No violations, kids love him and are loyal to him. He bungled the concussion thing, but that seemed to be more incompetence than a disregard for the kid's health. He's done nothing to indicate that he is not a good man. Edit: this was in response to latenightBTB. Looks like this isn't the only one to end up in the wrong spot.

It’s really a sad day.  For the program, for Brady, and for the seniors.

Brady fell victim to the Peter Principle – promoted beyond his skill set.  I don’t think there is a better example of it than this – outside of 7 of the past 8 Lions head coaches.

We can all have a sense of relief, but I won’t celebrate.  Brady is a really good guy - this was truly his dream job, and he just wasn’t up to the task.  I felt the same about Rodriguez the day he was fired; good guy, didn’t get the job done, and it was just time to go – I didn’t celebrate that day either.

And man – those seniors – they have put up with a whole lot of crap over the time they’ve been here.  I really feel for those guys.  They didn’t come to Michigan thinking they’d have to watch two guys they love get fired like this…

I disagree.  I'm not going to cry for a millionare who failed at his dream job.

I'm not going to be disappointed because the department (finally) made a good decision.

Would it have been better if things had worked out:  Duh

But they didn't, and I'm not going to feel bad, especially if Michigan nails the next part.

Wishing Coach Hoke the best.  Things didn't work out in the end for him at Michigan but he will be coaching again.  I only hope whoever we bring in cares as much about this program as he has.

I'm glad he's gone. He seems like a nice person, although I don't know him personally (obviously). Him being fired means the program is potentially on the right track pending the hiring of a new coach. Otherwise we may repeat this process in another 3 or 4 years.
