There were only a few games this week, so not a whole lot of explaining to do. Comment away.

Boise St ahead of Nevada? You don't believe your lying eyes it seems........

At Nevada, In OT, after a couple fairly easy FG attempts went wide. The higher ranked team doesn't always win.

I clicked "reply" planning to argue for Boise being ahead of Nevada, but outside of Virginia Tech's conference, championship, there isn't a whole lot.
I guess Nevada's loss is worse than Boise's (though that isn't really fair, because of the head-to-head). I'll take a closer look at that before submitting the final.

Overall record even. Strength of schedule about even. Head to head Nevada wins so I don't know how they can be ranked behind them -previous polls nothwithstanding. To be consistent wouldnt you need to put Northern Illinois ahead of Miami given their better overall record even though they lost to Miami in the conference championship game?
One man's opinion anyway.

It's not about "OMG THEY WON THE GAME" or vice-versa. One game does not a resume make.
Boise State's strength of schedule, assuming the teams are approximately even, is tougher with 11-2 Virginia Tech (a ranked team) on their schedule, and you could even argue that Oregon State is slightly better than Cal despite the same record, since one of the Beavers' losses was to TCU, not the weak-non-con Cal had outside of Nevada. Boise also averaged a 42.6-21.1 score on the year, to Boise's 46.7-13.0 score (including 3 shutouts).
I think you may have a point, and I'm certainly willing to look at it, but it's not a slam-dunk one way or the other (in which case I may have to agree with you and go with the head-to-head).

I guess it doesn't really matter since the rest of the country has both of those teams 1-2 one way or another. I still think Oregon should be number 1.

they do have a 13 win but i still think oregon is a better team.

Auburn has beaten 5 teams in this top-25 (one of them, twice). Oregon has beaten 1. I like Oregon as much as the next guy, but their resume isn't even close.
December 7th, 2010 at 10:48 AM ^
.......the one team that Oregon beat, IMO, is better than the rest of the SEC.
I don't think the SEC teams have any really good defenses this year, regardless of how the stats play out.
It will be a very good MNC game this bowl season.

IME, Oregon and Auburn are the two best teams in the country this year. That being said, I don't think the game will be very competitive; Auburn will roll the ducks

as a Miami University grad, nothing is worse than seeing it referred to as Miami (of Ohio). Just my two cents.

My sister's a Redhawk herself. The University (at east the athletic department) is OK with references that don't include "of," and they prefer Miami (Ohio), as it's portrayed by the blogpoll.

Keep that "Dropouts" spot warm for them. They'll be visiting it on January 2.
And for the superstitious out there, consider this jinx to be so jinxy that it's a double-reverse jinx. Wait, I just made it a quadruple... OMG a sextuple...
/Shops for jinx video camera at Best Buy. Points said jinx video camera at a TV displaying that jinx video.
