19 South Florida --
20 Cincinnati 6
21 Kansas 5
22 Boise State 6
23 Wake Forest 1
24 Pittsburgh 1
25 Vanderbilt 14

Dropped Out: Northwestern (#20), Illinois (#21), Ball State (#25).

Some significant changes from the draft to the final:

  • Commenters pointed out that LSU's schedule is extraordinarily flimsy at the moment, with the win over sudden doormat Auburn their best.
  • Also bumped up was Oklahoma State, as the JCCW's plea have the Pokes above the Sooners makes sense.
  • I replaced Northwestern with Vandy. WOO!

I'm sure I'm not the only one who noticed that in his interview Edwards was wearing a Penn State T-shirt.  Why?

Thanks, Brian. That commentary is the best part of the poll, IMHO. It's always nice to see how everyone voted and the statistical breakdown. You don't get that with any other poll out there -- it's the one thing that makes the Blogpoll superior. Otherwise, it's just another poll.

I will never come to understand the politics of forming a poll. How can one honestly put USC at #4 who lost to a mediocre Oregon State above Oklahoma who lost a fantastic game to Texas? When you look at their records they are the same. When you look at who each team lost to it's a different story. Just because you lost a game last week compared to weeks ago should not be that big of a factor in rankings. Especially if you lost the game playing your best ball. If you lost because your team came out and laid an egg then fine I can understand that. But seriously Oklahoma is better than USC and should be rightly above them. I would be appalled to see USC make it to the title game with one loss if they are not the only one loss team not from the SEC BT or B12.
