A source close to the team has told me Blake Countess has torn ligaments in his knee and is done for the year.

Countess will get a medical redshirt and be a redshirt sophomore next year; in his stead, Michigan has some hard choices. Courtney Avery was not up to the task on the outside against Alabama. Raymon Taylor and Terry Richardson also got in there, though in the part of the game in which Alabama was just running out the clock. This might mean we see a lot more of Jarrod Wilson in the nickel package. Last night he came in and Michigan moved Thomas Gordon down to the nickelback spot.

Also, hurray!

If Michigan's so light on personnel the coaches trust to play on the kick/punt coverage units, why the hell didn't they give Terrence Robinson a fifth year?  That guy was lights out on special teams last season.

I'm curious, how often do players make full recoveries from knee injuries like this?  It often seems like they come back having lost a step or injury prone, hopefully it just observation bias on my part, heh.

Avery slipped and got embarrassed, but you know what?  So did Dee Milliner.  It happens.  Avery is better than he showed on Saturday night.  It definitely hurts to lose Countess, but I'm not worried that Avery will make a habit of getting burned like that.

agreed. getting tired of morons writing off players after ONE BAD PLAY. Hey JT Floyd gave up a long TD to Indiana in 09, obviously he'll never be any good.

Denard threw a pick six Saturday night. Let's bench him.

Lewan had three bad penalties Saturday night. Let's bench him.

Demens had trouble getting to Yeldon unblocked. Let's bench him.

Jesus.

McCarron barely completed over 50% of his passes. Our pass defense was largely fine. Musberger liked talking about how badly Avery was getting picked on, but it was a single play.

Avery has established himself as a solid player. We'll be ok.

amongst football (NTF) fans. Nobody understands how much I need a hug right now.

Wishing Blake a speedy recovery. He was by far one of my favorite new players last season, and I was really hoping for a crazy break-out season this year. #neverforget #AMSHG #respect

I tend to be a glass half full type of guy. If Countess was able to make a profound improvement and work his way into the starting lineup last year, who is to say there is not a freshman this year that can make a similar impact as Countess did last year?

This blog is full of cry baby bull shit!  I came here to share a passion for Michigan football, not bash the coaches for every hick-up along the way.

We played a tough opponent and some guys got hurt.  WTF?

That's football people.

I'm done with this site.

Prayers of hope and strength to you and your family, Blake.

I can't imaging how disappointed you are, or how hard you have to work to get back to 100%

I only know you will get there, and you will come out the other end of this process an even better and stronger person.

This is not what we needed does anyone else think that jt floyd isnt that good of a corner and now countess is out!

At least we will have him for next year.... I also do think that there was alot of calls not made against mich we got called for holding when alabama face masked rawrls. All in all mich is not tough enough for a team like alabama. I give them two years and we will be back on top!

This is a very bad injury.  There's a chance he could never come back with the same speed and agility.  Woolfolk never seemed right again.  I hope this doesn't end up ruining his career.
