Big Ten Network To Stream All Football, Basketball Games Forever, For Money
For all of you abroad or just in need of Big Ten Network stream [UPDATE: service available outside US and Canada only], your dreams have been answered. The BigTen Network has announced the beginning of The Big Ten Ticket, a streaming video service of all BTN football and basketball games. From their press release:
Fans will be able to select from three service options: the "Single-Game Pass," the "School Pass," which covers every Big Ten Network football and men's basketball telecast for one school and the "Conference" pass, which covers every Big Ten Network football and men's basketball telecast for every Big Ten school during the 2009-10 season. Fans will be able to make their selections at www.BigTenTicket.com beginning in late August.
Pricing has yet to be announced, but I have to assume it will be comparable to CBSSports XXL, which is $15 a month and $120 per year. During the baseball season, the Atlantic Sun conference (ASun.tv) carried individual games for $6, monthly subscriptions for $10, and yearly subscriptions for $70. I imagine for a conference-wide package, you'll pay a little over this, as the Big Ten has a little more monetary value than the Atlantic Sun (that said, they show EVERY home game and not just the few that make it on BTN).
I have had it confirmed from the Network that the Big Ten Ticket will only cover those football and basketball games and nothing else. This means the women's basketball games streamed last year will most likely continue for free. The lack of other Olympic sports coverage is a big disappointment.
I assume this will work like an ESPN360, showing every game and allowing you to replay it later in a TIVO style. with the ability to skip most commercials. For those of you who watched any of the streamed games, the new system will also use the same computer detection software that became available at the end of last season:
The video player automatically detects the optimal settings that your computer will allow, and automatically adjusts for any change in capacity and connectivity. Simply use your computer as you need, and the player will do the rest.
The service will become available in the next few weeks on www.BigTenTicket.com, which currently takes you only BTN.com.
Envious that this is launching a year too late for me. I was working in Mexico last fall and was unable to watch ANY of the football games. Thanks to this board I was able to get a few links to SOPcast which let me view 1/2 of the Notre Dame game. I would definitely have coughed up the money for this service...

Oh wow! Awesome. Five days after I bought a Slingbox! Hopefully I get deployed a lot to get a great return on this investment...
Great news. I've had only average success with SOPcast. I hope the automatic detection software is good for those of us with faster connections.
Makes fans happy, makes the Big Ten money, seems like a win-win.
This is good. Does this mean I don't have to go to a crappy bar to see Michigan play EMU?
On the CiL's, the admins can now point to BTN.com for those asking about streams.
Anyone try www.justin.tv or channelsurfing.net? I had great results with them last year. Watched every game while at work.
That being said, it is what it is.
I love justin.tv. Im currently watching Tiger destroy people with it.
I routinely +1 myself in memory of em0, may he RIP

BTN is getting on top of justin.tv pretty hard. At the end of last basketball season, several feeds were terminated mid show. They won't catch everything, but I can't imagine there isn't some network drone monitoring popular sites like this looking for links to shut down on game days.
You are right. It was tough to get games as the season went on. Channelsurfing.net was good but they don't have all of the games. I'm hoping the Big Ten Ticket makes the games easier to find on the internet for those of us in the US that can't get the Big 10 network.

Wow, when you said Big Ten Ticket, I got chills down my spine...
That was the name of Bo's pre-game show with Don Shane on channel 7. Bo died on the set of the show...

what is brian's actual email address...the email-links on this page won't work for me.
I told people to go F*ck themselves, therefore I have been banned

Do any computer gurus out there know if there will be a way to get this service if you don't live outside the US and Canada?

Comcast in Portland only carries one of the BTN feeds and not in HD. So, I'm psyched if the rez if OK and it doesn't glitch/delay too much. Otherwise it's off to a bar.
There are no corners in space.
Does this mean every michigan game will be streamlined? or is it only the games that are on the big ten network?
Only on BTN
In other words, this will be an awesome way to watch the Delaware State game. ND and OSU not so much.
Ace Williams follows me on Twitter.
Anyone know if they will make this avaliable on the college campuses just like ESPN 360 is?
Last year had a lab class during most of the basketball games and had to rely on justin.tv to watch most of them even though I got ESPN 360 and for home games was less than a mile away. And just as formerlyanonymous said the BTN cracked down hard on it.
This would have been nice for me last year. Thanks for nothing, BTN.

So, how do I get BTN games in Canada without this service? I am curious. It is not offered by any cable company I am near.
I am currently living in Australia and, I too, just bought a slingbox and it is currently hooked up at my freinds house in Michigan. In my opinion, if you know someone that has the BTN as part of their cable package and would be willing to let you hook-up an additional cable box and slingbox to one of their spare cable/internet jacks in their house, that is the better option, as you are not limited to just the BTN. SlingboxProHD: $230, addition DVR/HD box at friends house: $10/mo.
Goddammit no one in Texas is carrying this channel. I refuse to switch to satellite just to get one channel. I got excited that I could stream now but looks like formerlyanon's update killed that hope. I hate the BTN.
It's on a sports tier on Time Warner in Austin...
Oh HAPPY HAPPY Deploying Paul :-) I was really not delighted w/ missing the entire football season.
I feel much better (now about that high speed internet connection...)
