I was reading some free stuff on rivals about some of Barwis's techniques, and let me tell you, this guy could be a master fitness instructor for the Army. He states how the athletes do a lot of sand pit drills. We used to do the same drills when I was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. After doing these drills for x amount of weeks, my entire platoon felt much more agile and explosive on harder surfaces ie.. grass. This guy is going to redefine strength and explosiveness in Michigan football. Stay Tuned.
Barwis is the real deal.
I'm kind of excited for the time when we field seniors who have had 4 or 5 years of Barwis. We'll wipe the floor with OSU then immediately drag them off the field and beat them again in 3 sets of beach volleyball.
apparently in his program you don't see max results until after the 2nd year so here we go..
Or better yet after we get done with the opposition, we go after their families.
for the guy but I think its legit. It should start to show a lot more this year and then on. 1 year is not a lot if you think about it. Im a fan.
The best conditioned athletes don't mean squat if they can't tackle. UM needs to learn how to tackle.
for the article.
I remember training during the summers for football, running up and down the beaches of Lake Huron. Then drills in the water. Training in the sand is BRUTAL! We don't have dunes on the east side as much as the west, which I imagine the pit is more like, but even running on flat sand is hard. Ah, to be young again...
Hell, I can hardly remember what it's like to be in proper shape. Too much beer and Indian buffets
Brandon Graham last yr went from benching 230 or something to 395 in like 5 months.
That, and he got pretty fast for a big man. He almost walked Ringer, which is pretty impressive considering the announcer said at least 20 times (hyperbole) that Ringer had "4-3 speed".
I remember thinking that his weight and his max bench press were pretty close, so I think he started around 300 (weighing like 285) to 495 (weighing 260ish.)
After a second go around with Barwis, Graham will knock Prior's head off.
Ya now that i think of it your prob right. I dono why i said 230, thats not alot for a DE. It was 300 to 495.
Brandon Graham choked Wayne Brady.
With one hand. He was doing curls with the other.
is cutting edge, msu's s and c program has incorporated a 50 yard sand pit for the past 5 years or so. Barwis puts michigan on par with everyone else, which is saying alot, the michigan s and c program has failed to catch up with the newest research and techniques, now it has...
