Band Not Going To Dallas Comment Count

Dave Brandon creates the future: the tag: the picture

The Michigan Marching Band has been informed that they won't be going to Dallas, presumably because it puts a dent in the pile of money Michigan will get by selling a home game. Sorry, people who bought tickets. Yes, seats for the band are in the contract. Yes, you've been duped. No, you can't get a refund unless you pay $500 to get on the refund waiting list.

Think about that as you look at a home schedule on which Michigan State is the featured attraction. Dave Brandon couldn't even get the Nebraska game to not be on the road in the same year OSU and ND are. He sold a home game to Jerry Jones because it sounded like a lot of money, then we found out that because the minimum ticket price was $125 he could have scheduled a home and home instead. Jerry Jones is probably laughing his ass off somewhere.

Anyway. I think we should start a Dave Brandon for Governor fund. I'd vote for him! With no ulterior motives whatsoever! #DB4MGov!

The fact that DB even considered this tells me that he is not a Michigan Man. Does anyone else think that Ohio and their BDBITL is not laughing their asses off at us right now???

I don't think this is just me, but the band is huge! It's tradition and the fans want it! It's not that much money (relatively speaking-- Michigan has enough money for it). Also, it's a factor in the game. I'm not saying it would make us win, but the players would feel more at home with the band. It would feel like a true away game if it was only the Alabama band playing.

Thing is: THIS IS RIDICULOUS

Dallas/Ft. Worth area able to house MMB like we used to here in Pickerington for The Game? That could knock off some cost and maybe create the next Taco / Butt pipeline...

Could we, at mgoblog, make a kickstarter account to fund the Michigan Marching Band trip to Texas?  I was just thinking... it's $400,000 that we could raise.  We could somehow attach it to the site, so people who don't regularly visit MGoBlog would see that MGoBlog is spearheading this effort to send the band and it could bring a lot of new people to the site, as well as do something good for the team we love.

Let me know what you think!
