I'm in Bad Axe on business for a few days. Need to watch the game tonight with my co-workers and a few beers. Where is the best place to go for that in Bad Axe or vicinity (within 15 miles)?
mesmerism! presidential assassinations! circuses on fire!
On business in Bad Axe...middle of nowhere much?
considering that Bad Axe is the biggest town within 25 miles you may be out of luck. If you want to go further out consider Caseville or Port Austin.
business in bad axe?
I grew up in Lapeer and there must be at least half a dozen bars that would show the game there...
As someone who grew up in an even smaller town in Mid-Michigan, I'd be shocked if the local smoke-filled bar didn't have it on a TV. It might not be on 20 big screen TVs like at BW3's or the like, but it'll be on and they'll have beer (and the beer will be cheap).
I grew up and worked in the thumb, but left the area about 5 years ago. I remember a place called "Cousins" that was like a bar/grill/tv gathering place.
What is the name of the High School there and what is their mascot?
yeah... the bad axe hatchets and they were maize and blue.
You'll probably run into a TON of sparty there. Look around. All you see is farmland.
I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw the title of this thread. I went to high school in Bad Axe and still have a lot of family in the area.
Bad Axe doesn't feature the greatest bar scene. I think Cousins (as you enter town on M-53, turn right at the intersection where M-53 turns back north) is your best bet, but you could also try Pete's (straight at that same intersection -- there are only so many intersections in Bad Axe).
If you ever want to know a school's mascot, this is a good place to find it:
There are some great mascots in there -- like the Vassar Vulcans.
The Dexter Dreadnaughts is always a good one (alternate mascot -- a giant bottle of Three Floyd's beer?). And no mention of Michigan high school sports mascots is complete without the Watersmeet Nimrods (I don't think they play football so they're not on that site).
Mt. Clemons Battling Bathers
Gladwin Flying G's
Since I'm from Chelsea, I can't appreciate Dexter's mascot too loudly -- Dexter and Chelsea are big rivals -- but I do like the Dreadnaught; it's unique.
One of my personal favorites is the Dearborn Fordson Tractors. Not only is it different, but it also has history behind it.
I was a Unionville-Sebewaing Patriot... '94
I can't imagine the Battling Bathers don't have history too
