OMG MICHIGAN IS LOSING THE IN-STATE RECRUITING BATTLE ! Oh wait...nevermind.
"Rodrick Williams Jr.'s 10-month old, 2-foot-long savannah monitor named "Kill" gets the RB some strange looks when they go for walks together."
OMG MICHIGAN IS LOSING THE IN-STATE RECRUITING BATTLE ! Oh wait...nevermind.
Glad to hear about this pickup. I really think Austin will be a great fit at UM. Hopefully the good recruiting news keeps rolling in.
and Torrian Wilson, come on down....
This is great news and I hope a great fit.
I think White is a great addition, and don't have any problem with the rumors. As long as they are just rumors, and he stays on the Bell Curve, he will be fine.
As for egotism, I would expect an elite athlete to have a healthy ego. How could you not have one with your ass being kissed by recruiters 24/7, not to mention your neighbors, teachers and fellow students. It's not like White is "in the system" like Devine, IIRC, was.
And even if they do take someone down the road who is "in the system," I don't think it is too far-fetched to think that a 17 year-old is capable of achieving self-redemption as he matures and is exposed to better role models.
Not to mention getting "Barwis-ized."
I'm not sure what you mean by "stays on the Bell Curve"? Is it grades? Could you explain?
See a down of play as a freshman, or just a redshirt?
Redshirt. We will be pretty deep at RB.
I think White can definitely eat up a few yards for us, and I'm glad to have him.
Nice pickup. But the OP missed what is obviously the big story of the day: U-M's Nick Sheridan primed for competition (Detroit News)
Sorry Nick. Nice to put on a tough face and all that, but if RR even THINKS of putting you into a game, the boos will begin. And the first incomplete pass or lousy run you make, they'll turn to swearing and jeering.
and the Jersey Guy celebratory youtube clip?
I just like when Boutros posts because his avatar will never cease to crack me up.
Re: White - fantastic pickup, especially when there were points when things didn't look so great for us!
To add some more to the conversation: I agree that people are making too big of a deal about RUMORED behavior / attitude issues.
I'm sure that guys with a clean record come in and screw up at college given their new environs, and that a good number of guys with questionable backgrounds come in and take advantage of the situation and behave perfectly well.
Don't despair! I know how much this means to the community!
Just waiting on Brian's "Hello:" post.
I just want to point out that the White family is getting bluer and bluer. I can only assume that this is b/c MSU takes the White family for granted, and b/c MSU is arrogant, and b/c their running back is short.
could a guy who has chewed up more ground than a RotoRooter not be a little arrogant? I mean, come on guys...he is a 3 STAR!
I need some help here...any truth to the rumor that if things don't workout at Running back he'll be moving to DT? If so I'm all for signing our fourth running back.
DT? Is this a joke? The kid is tiny. Maybe a slot receiver because he can catch well, definitely not a DT.
Yeah, that's a pretty crazy jump. Did he mean DB maybe?
Varsity Blue mentioned that he did well playing DB during 7-7 drills, so that may be an option.
to the ON position please.
I don't know, I just reread that post and if that's sarcasm, it's poorly done. This is still the internet, subtleties aren't going to work too well.
Also, and this isn't directed at you RNA, but can we stop with the whole "calibrate your sarcasm machine" meme because it's overplayed. Maybe I'm the only one.
I thought it was blatant sarcasm. A 6'0" RB that weighs 185lbs moving to DT? Come on.
Well I'm clearly not the only one who didn't pick up on it. Either you're an established poster whose posting style is recognized or you lay it on thick. I actually thought it was a type and he meant DB. Also, some people on here are just stupid. Like I said, subtleties are difficult in text form.
The sarcasm is pretty thick. He even threw in the "signing our fourth running back" for good measure.
It was a more subtle way of saying: "Great. We now have four verbals from running backs, BUT HOW ABOUT SIGNING A DEFENSIVE TACKLE OR TWO!?!?!?"
I don't necessarily like the sarcasm detector thing either, but like you said, it didn't look like others were picking it up either.
Sorry it chapped your ass. Duly noted.
Suggesting a smallish running back become a defensive tackle is laying it on pretty thick.
Fine. Looks like I'm the retard, you all are better than me. Go on with your day.
I will now assume that every ridiculous comment made on this board is sarcasm.
I personally thought he meant to write DB myself and mistakenly wrote DT. Maybe I'm a retard too!
I failed to see the sarcasm also. I also agree that the "sarcasm meter" meme is beyond played out. Please let that die along with many other memes that have traveled through this board, reproduced, and then were selected out of the meme pool.
Sorry I thought I was pretty clear with my sarcasm...I will try harder in the future. I feel like I have let you all down...for shame.
You're doing it wrong!
We still love you.
It's ok, as you posted earlier, some people on here are just plain stupid. They say the best satire blurs the line between reality and fiction.
Thanks guys. I feel a lot better now.
Yeah, that would make a lot more sense. But he could start for a couple years if we don't get another amazing running back this year or next.
We now have the best QB and RB in the state. If Rich Rod wants to just get the top players of the state then I'm fine with that. The rumors that I was hearing about Austin White was that he was involved in some fights during the school year and that caused some disciplinary issues. I don't think it's that bad and at least it wasn't on the field fights.
Joe Boisture is the best QB in the state.
Nice pickup, especially because he's in-state. Not that I'm falling for Sparty's whole "we own Michigan" campaign, but I do feel we need to make sure we protect our own backyard somewhat.
In any case, I still think another RB would make this class complete. White's 4.71 forty time kind of makes me nervous, especially since that could fall further if he bulks up (the kid is a twig.)
I think RichRod needs to put the press on for Brennan Clay, Riley, Clements and Gainer - and then round the class out with two solid CB's, DT's and an LB in there.
because he has been consistently timed in the 4.5 range
He ran a 4.71 at a combine a while ago and it had been the only reported time on both Rivals and Scout for a very, very long time.
Check out the Bailey from Woodhaven School. 4.37 forty. 24 touchdowns, and only a 136 carriers. He ended with 1430 rushing.
anyone got more vids? looks like he has a real quick first step. fluid hips. good leg strength to run through tackles and a high churn rate. Moves his shoulders a lot, don't know if that's good or bad, but it looks different. maybe it helps with his jukes. He's not the biggest back, but he looks bigger compared to some of the guys we've been picking up.
Michigan State got Nick Hill and Michigan got Austin White. I would have thought that both of those would be impossible just 2 months ago.
This thread has gotten off topic, so I'll give a big Hip-Hip-Horray for AW.
There is no possible way to see a running back/slot receiver commit as a bad one unless you are retarded. This is July, 7 months from now there will be plenty of D-linemen.
Welcome to UM, Austin!
First of all let me start by congratulating Michigan for recruiting Austin White. This is a great opportunity for your University, and I wish you well; however, I think that Michian--and Michigan State jump the gun on their running backs picks. The best running back in the State of Michigan is not Austin White, or Nick Hill. The best running back in the State of Michigan is Aaron Bailey out of Woodhaven high school. He's 5'9, 185lbs. He ran a 4.37 forty at the Michigan State football camp, and out shined White, who ran a 4.55 forty. He beat Nick Hill in the 100 meter dash at Eastern Michigan with an impressive 10'9 hundred.(FAT)Hill ran a 11.7 hundred. Now that both Universities had made there choices; Bailey probably will feel disrespected and never consider them. The up coming season will prove me right, because the Woodhaven coaching staff has stated that they will not hold him back this year. They are going to let him run, so watch out Michigan, and Michigan State. The best running back in the State will probably in up at OSH.
Are you Aaron Bailey's dad or little brother?
