Aubrey Solomon, Otis Reese Commit To Michigan Comment Count

Always good to get a guy from Batman HS. [Keith Neibuhr/247]

247's Steve Lorenz reports Michigan, currently hosting a huge group of prospects for their camp, has picked up commitments from a pair of Georgia teammates:

Both play for Leesburg (GA) Lee County, where Michigan co-hosted a satellite camp with Georgia earlier this spring. Aubrey Solomon is ranked as the #6 DT and #94 overall prospect in the country.

Otis Reese, who Lorenz reports is being recruited as a SAM in Don Brown's defense, is an early four-star ranked by 247 as the #117 overall prospect in the 2018 class.

I'll have Soloman's full commitment post up as soon as I can get it together. Reese's will go up tomorrow.

A big ol' southern boy that can move and hit.  Harbaugh taking recruits from the south and eventually beating SEC schools with them is like making the metaphor of, "ripping off your arms and beating you with them" a real life practice.

It's a joke, son.

They are scared to death of Harbaugh, and apparently for good reason.

Give credit to Saban for being the canary in the coal mine about the Harbaugh threat, even if he hid the real reason for his concern behind some fake "Think Of The Children" bullshit.

He's a lying hypocritical dick, but nobody ever said he wasn't a smart man.

He's worried about the SEC's fertile turf, and rightly so.

for every player at the camps to be prepared. What have you been doing today? /s

Great pick up for Harbaugh. Things are coming together.

Funny because on twitter, before his visit to Michigan, Soloman was talking about how Georgia was his best visit and he was sure to go back. That must mean that his Michiigan visit was awesome!!

Also, Reese was 75% crystal ball to Georgia.

Michigan is stealing those recruits from Georgia.

cheer for good news? We don't need anyone to remind us that it isn't LOI day yet, that not all highly ranked recruits pan out, etc. Seriously, who doesn't know that? I'm excited to see us adding a couple of talented players from Georgia. DT is an important need in this class.

Welcome to the Maize and Blue Aubrey and Otis!

But . . . but . . . I thought Finebaum and Malzhan said that we would never be able to get a recruit that any of the big-name SEC schools actually wanted.

They were just looking out for us stealing kids from Louisiana Tech and South Alabama.

Bless their hearts.

How does this fit into the SEC narrative of "Michigan won't poach players southern schools actually want"? See Malzahn's quote (granted this about Alabama, but the statement still applies IMO):

"The chances of a team up north coming into our state and a player that us or Alabama wants are slim to none. So it was just a matter of that was the big story. Our league right now, if they're going to keep doing it, we've chosen to be a part of that. So we'll see where that goes."

Better ask Nico Collins about them chances! If he commits too - woooooo boy. Something something something non-commitable offers, or something.

Cause I don't ACTUALLY feel bad. But I do give a kind of "aww man, couldn't it have been Bama or Auburn or Ole Miss?" for 1.5 seconds just because Geogia didn't jump in the sat camp bashing and they hosted with us.

But regardless, I don't care...1.5 second has been up, I'm glad these kids are blue - I hope we can keep them both. GO BLUE!

Kirby Smart wasn't willing to host a satellite camp with us. He was willing to show up at our camps for a little while and do a little scouting, no coaching. The only Power 5 school that was going to host us for a camp was Baylor.

Other SEC schools have sent coaches to our satellite camps too. Miss St. was at Pearl, MS for example.
