Now that the recruits are all signed. It's time to start thinking about next year. I'm trying to decide which games to fly out for, but with the schedule still not final, it's a difficult proposition. Anyone have some news? Some good rumors?
Any News on 12th Game?
I think it would be a good thing to see a new coach take on an old foe...
a gentlemen's wager with me that the 12th game will be scheduled the Saturday after the OSU/UM game?
I wouldn't bet the change in my car on a Penn State victory over Temple against you... can't trust an odds man like yourself
I think you might be right. Would not be a bad idea, either.
I'd hate it if it was after the OSU game. I love that OSU/UM is the last game of the season for us.
Now this is a bet worth taking.
I know it's been done before with Hawaii, but I'll put up $10 that it won't
be after the OSU game....but we have one open week and there aren't many dancing partners that weekend.
Season can not start before 9/5.
And, this is the first year, the league is allowing for teams to schedule games turkey day weekend. You gotta think some league teams are being encouraged to play games that weekend.....especially the big boys, since this rule was relaxed in hopes our teams wont be as rusty going into the bowls.
It might be out of necessity....and when it does happen, we all know the RR haters will come out and say he is directly responsible for breaking a tradition.
I can see the Drew Sharp column right now.
the OSU game gets moved to Thanksgiving weekend? That would be something. The season would be longer and M vs. OSU would still be the last game.
as its already scheduled for the week before.
But, I think that might be the long term plan, perhaps with the new schedule rules.
IIRC, the 1990 and 1991 games were the Saturday after Thanksgiving...and I know the epic 1995 upset was after Thanksgiving because I came into town for the game, but had to work at a restaurant thanksgiving day, much to the chagrin of my mom.
There's precendent there and I dont think its a bad idea either.
Of course, Thanksgiving is generally a hell of a lot warmer in Virginia -- even in the mountains -- than in Ann Arbor or Columbus....
Rumors circulating that it may be Coastal Carolina or Maine. Take it fwiw. Nobody really knows except Bill Martin and RR.
Seeing as Michigan has played a game after OSU before (Hawaii 1998), I do not have a problem w/ their being another home game after OSU. It doesn't have to become a regular thing but how much fun would it be to tailgate after Thanksgiving? Everyone is home for the holiday. It would be a unique game experience for fans who are tired of Michigan always playing noon games and never switching it up to cause excitement.
I guess I wouldn't mind a game after OSU as long as it wasn't all the time but in the end I have absolutely ZERO say in the matter. I just like that tradition is all.
I like RichRod and wouldn't blame HIM for it at all, I just like to see UM/OSU as the last game before bowls. A lot of times it basically serves as a B10 Championship game...and it is the greatest rivalry in any sport of all-time.
