post it! haha. Tell him our kicker is a beast
anthony fera convo
If you friended him on Facebook with the intention of talking shit to a kid you never met, I can hardly blame him for thinking U of M fans are classless. Well done, dude.
Go away, and don't ever be a Michigan fan again. Head down to Maryland or something. Seriously. Get out.
woah woah woah. can't we all be nice and go to ohio? or at least carolina?
So he is saying Tom VH is not telling us the truth then?
Unclassy? He's the one that's going to be kicking in the middle of a cow pasture/ chicken manure field the next 4-5 years.
Tell him to watch out for crack backs when we reverse the field on kick offs.
ooo not even dumb morons would've done that
Did you actually find out what his "trash-talking" was?
from what I understand, he simply commented on the recent news of us losing a D-coordinator and LB commit by saying "that sucks." Hardly shit-talking IMO.
you proved his accusations correct. congratulations.
This was only one part. I'm not going to add to this, or support any negative talk between him and anyone else. BUT, there were other things said on photos, and other walls.
I'm not sure why I would make that up.
Sorry bballa, but seriously? You realize that he is a senior in high school, and you just went out of your way to insult him...
Whats next, throwing dirt in the eyes of little kids that are wearing OSU t-shirts?
i had an old roommate at michigan who after the '06 loss told a osu fan, no more than 7 years old that god hates him to his face. i'd be lying if i said that i didn't immediately laugh hysterically at seeing the look on the kids face, his dads face and the fury in my roommates eyes. a priceless moment.
"Whats next, throwing dirt in the eyes of little kids that are wearing OSU t-shirts?"
You know, that's not a bad idea
I've actually seen someone throw beer at a kid wearing an OSU shirt. It's absolutely awful, but Michigan fans, it seems, live up to their reputation.
There's nothing else more worthwhile you can do with your life than talk trash on facebook to someone you don't know?
Anyone wearing an OSU shirt or hat should have dirt thrown on them. It's just natural.
This is why the internet was created - to talk shit without the possibility of repercussions.
Thus, computer hackers were born.
you guys act like im talking shit to a random person...im talking shit to a commit to a rival school that was apparently talking shit to a commit at our school...hes gonna get shit talked for four years
You are talking shit to a random person. The fact that he went to Penn State doesn't make him an asshole.
Your need to somehow "represent" for Michigan, on the other hand, makes you one.
you've never talked shit to someone else in regards to michigan?
And meant it? No. I've never called anyone a "bitch" because of Michigan football.
The Michigan football fan police comes to the rescue again
Really? You should try it. It is the trump card for all arguments. With that one word, your point will be understood and simply cannot be debated further. And you will gain instant credibility and respect from the recipient. I have now used it at work with great success.
was just establishing some ground rules with Mr. Fera. Now he knows we are watching.
We shouldn't throw dirt on them we should just hope a bird poops on their shirt or they get lost at the state fair and start crying for a few minutes before they are safely returned to their parents. But throwing dirt on kids ain't cool.
I agree. Bad move on talking trash to an 18 year old kid. We ARE better than that, and should continue holding ourselves to the Michigan standard. I'm afraid that move just doesn't cut it.
what's that ad they run...
"Hail, for there truly is a Michigan difference."
That type of thing is childish and unwarranted.
Trash talk should be relegated to fan to fan or player to player. I'm sure Anthony LaLota really doesn't need your help.
the dumbest thing I've ever seen.
the other evening Fera was actively running our program down to Lalota and really going on about Shafer's resignation. Tom VH seemed extremely unhappy with this. Despite Fera's young age, if he is 18 he is an adult...last time I checked. The problem with kids today is they misbehave and then mom and dad want to find a loophole to get them out of trouble.
Bballa was just playing "an eye for an eye" with Fera and dishing shit back at him. If Fera can get a free pass on this one so can bballa.
Lets move on guys
If we heard an OSU fan did this to one of our commits, we would call OSU fans douchebags.
The same goes for PSU.
And eye for an eye is Old Testament shit. Welcome to the New Testament.
I'm with Magnus on this one. yikes.
Maybe we're overreacting a bit here. Just because it's not the classiest thing ever, talking shit over a social networking website is pretty harmless. It's not like he threw rocks through his window or something. Fera either likes the attention or deletes the messages. Not a big deal.
Also, some people are a little judgmental about how they think Michigan fans "should" act. Not all are going to be perfect gentlemen all the time, and that's fine. Just because someone thinks their fanhood allows them to do things you don't agree with, let it slide a bit.
Telling someone not to be a fan anymore because you wouldn't have done this is pretty weak too.
No. Honestly, friending an athelete with the purpose of harassing them is pathetic. Period. If someone did that to me, I'd think they were insane.
Fera hasn't behaved well? Fine. That's on him. For the record - I don't give a shit if bballa talks trash to Fera - all it's doing is making himself look like an idiot. But if he's going to brag about it here, I'm not going giggle along with it.
I realize I'm "telling people how to act" and shit, but it's mind-boggling to me that the same people can sit here and act morally or intellectually superior to an OSU or MSU fan, and then do this.
Fair enough. And I'm not directing this just at you either, but expressing your displeasure is different than saying something along the lines of "go away and don't be a Michigan fan ever again." A little harsh.
I'm not condoning nor condemning what he did, but a lot of us, myself included, need to jump down off our high horses sometimes.
Someone with a Castro avatar telling people how they should act and what they should say and not say. You're original, I'll give you that.
why shouldn't it work for Chitown?
like what he just posted. People should address his points rather than take issue with his approach or just express dismay at his derived conclusions.
If a poster is behaving like a douche, and someone calls you out on it, well...
And it does seem to me that a number of people posting here do need to have others tell them how to behave. Ummmm, hence Brian's banning of posters, and Chitown's comments.
And I for one and damn glad for both, otherwise this blog slides down into the muck of other blogs.
You people take these things way too seriously.
Ok, so this guy e-stalks an 18-year kid because he didn't decided to kick footballs at Michigan and MIGHT have acted arrogant to a future Michigan recruit. He does this solely for the purpose of insulting him.
And I am "taking these things way too seriously"?
No, chitown, you're not. If this is supposed to be "the" Michigan blog, then it represents Michigan fans to a much wider audience than just the small message board community. Brian's quite right to banhammer the guy - he shouldn't be using Brian's webspace as a forum for asshattery. And I would much rather overreact than underreact.
So a guy somewhere nobody really knows decides to insult a 18-year old kid nobody really knows using the internet. Big deal. Don't take it as an insult or an attack, I find this quite amusing myself, both the bragging attempt and the seriousness of people's responses, like any of this really matters.
and none of it may matter much to me, but I certainly can see how it could matter to a high school kid. I am sure it also matters to his parents. I am sure that not of that concerns you.
But you know who it really matters to. Brian, that is who. This is his livelihood and it is also what he has based his reputation on.
An you know what, the integrity of this blog and its character matters to me as well. It is what keeps me coming back. Not tolerating shit like this (and talking shit about recruits that chose to go to other schools) that make this blog a cut above.
So yeah, I appologize, I do take this seriously.
"Telling someone not to be a fan anymore because you wouldn't have done this is pretty weak too."
The dude is representing Michigan fans and now we all look like classless jerks. And friending someone on Facebook with the sole intention of harassing them is probably bordering on some kind of stalking crime. I don't want to be associated with trashy shit like that. Even if Fera is shit talking, I really don't think a guy who plays defensive end needs scrawny immature fanboys to stand up for him to a kicker.
It's one thing to talk shit to other fans who randomly cross your path. It's another thing entirely to stalk and harass an 18-year-old kid because of something you read on the Internet, no matter how credible TomVH's reports are. And then bragging about it and expecting the rest of us to join in. It's shitty and immature and I don't want people thinking I'm equally classless because I root for the same team.
No one will think you're classless because of something someone did who happens to cheer for the same team. You are a member of one of the largest fanbases of any team in the world.
The chance of anyone you know finding out about this is near zero. There is a better chance someone judges you because you flipped out on a kid for something trivial than because they heard someone who also roots for Michigan was talking shit to Anthony Fera.
WolvinLA, you are one of the few voices of reason on this site.
A fan is a fan if he loves the team. And obviously, this guy loves the team enough to trash an 18 year old kid. Over the top? Yes. Diehard fan? Again, yes.
As long as he isn't actually hurting anyone, he can do whatever he wants; so leave him alone.
I think section 2 of Brian's recruiting philosophy fits well here. Especially paragraphs two and six.
I think we should keep that link on standby. There's been a lot of decommits this year, and a lot of negative comments about those decommits.
And think about how pathetic it is you would friend an 18 year old to talk shit. You are literally like the dad who came out of the stands and assaulted the high school wrestler who was beating his son in a wrestling match. He's allowed to talk trash against a future opponent, he's 18 and immature, what's your excuse?
He's a kicker
And dude, let's not forget - let's NOT forget, that using MySpace, for recruiting, as a kicker, with gelled, spiky hair ... that ain't cool either.
Say what you will of the kind of fandom that inspires Facebook-stalking a kicker, at least it's an ethos.
I think everyone should calm down. Leave the kid alone, and move on. My intentions were not to start a war of words on facebook. Let's talk about Travante Stallworth instead....
...but he seems like a really good kid. His interest in academics seem genuine, which is hard to say for other recruits that use the boilerplate "academics are important." His use of "sir" really stood out to me.
He looked pretty darn fast in the video as well. I don't have any real experience to judge his abilities so I make no prediction about how he'll end up as a college player, but as a young man he'd be a fine addition to the team and the university.
Also, I believe that comment from his dad was genuine, in which case it just goes to show that recruits, or at least their parents, know about and read the blog.
i would imagine the 'trash-talk' was nothing worth anyone else getting involved in. dude's a kicker anyway. a kicker trying to trash-talk a 4* DE who will be trying to physically harm him for the next 3 or 4 years. good luck with that one anthony. not worth getting involved in
I was about to suggest that Brian delete this thread like he did the earlier one, but the more I think about it, I think that it needs to stay up, if for no other reason than to demonstrate that the majority of Michigan fans, at least on this site, don't condone that sort of thing....that being said, I do like the mental image of Fera getting the Morelli treatment next year.
For the record, Anthony Fera sort of looks like he belongs in My New Haircut. So he kind of irritates me, especially if he is going out of his way to mess with our recruiting ... as a kicker.
Still, talking shit via Facebook isn't really any way to prove your superiority. Pretty lame. Not immoral, mind you (unless you said something truly nasty), nor close to illegal (what the hell definition of 'stalking' are we working with here?) - just lame-o.
This idiot is banned.
Dandy Don says it's 60/40 that he's banned.
he's an idiot.
MGoBrian giveth and MGoBrian taketh away.
Talking shit about someone amongst ourselves can be of great entertainment value. Some of the things said here are funny because I think they are jokes and they border on the ridiculous. But to me, when you engage the target of your "trash talk" personally, then it takes a whole new meaning. It takes the humor out of it.
I do not, however condemn anyone for doing such a thing. I do not think they are douchebags, or assholes. I just think they may have crossed a line. So please, come back to your fellow Michigan fans and post your opinions of Fera the shit-kicking loudmouth here so I can laugh about it.
ooops. to late. guess your to far gone.
I imagine you might be feeling like a schmuck right now. Don't fret. We've all done stupid things. If I were you, I'd actually apologize to Fera. That might even restore some people's opinion on the "classiness" of Michigan fans.
I clicked on this thread. While its hilarious that he thought he'd be greeted as a hero (and liberator?) for doing something so stupid, its sad that he felt compelled to do it in the first place.
I agree. If you have to do something stupid, fine. But you need to know that if you brag about it on here you'll get reamed. And reamed he got.
Like Derek Vinyard.
talking smack to a high school kid = weak
Now there's no chance of Fera recommitting if JoePa croaks before signing day.
Besides, leave the facebook smack-talking to the experts like jmakgoblue.
Please tell me this thread was a joke.
The MGoIdiots are multiplying by the day.
increased exposure has its risks.
I will only draw the parallel between being a douchebag on the internet to an 18 year old and throwing bags of urine on opposing teams fans.
Its kind of like the WWJD bracelets "What Wouldn't A Buckeye Do?"
sure it was stupid to get into a pissing match with a kicker on facebook..... but that brought up the point to me that we need to be a little less docile, especially on game days. I'm not saying we should be complete classless assholes, but we should be a little louder and more obnoxious than what we are.
the best point made....
"he's a kicker..."
Dammit! I never got to sing my Ban Hammer song. You guys need to start requesting it.
Just do it. You know you want to.
