Obviously the ending of the bowl game streak got a lot of comment.
Another streak just died on Saturday: The Michigan basketball team had made a Final of the NCAA tournament every decade since the 1960s: an awesome thing to bring up to any Michigan-hater who claimed that any glory was just from cheating Fab Five years.
[A side note for you kids... 1965 finals loss to UCLA (Cazzie Russell-led); 1976 finals loss to Indiana (Rickey Green-led); 1989 national championship (of course); then the 1992 and 1993 losses (Fab Five).
Now, I'm not blaming this team, which greatly exceeded expectations and obviously could not be expected to make a Final. But, it's still sad to see go... if only Amaker had a couple extra qualities or someone else had been hired at that time, maybe we could have given it a go.
