Carson Butler. I got this information directly from the mouth of a football player. It was he who got into the extended fight with the coaches on the sidelines of the OSU game. He's on extremely bad terms with richrod and is going to test his luck in the NFL draft.
And the leaving Senior is....
not a big surprise there
That makes sense.
I will gouge my eyeballs out if Carson Butler ends up in the NFL.
He refused to be managed by anyone. Refused to block as TE and wasn't all that spectacular anyways. He recently underwent a position switch. He punches people. Not NFL caliber right?
If everything was just based on physical components, he could be a great TE.
Unfortunately, he's lazy and an idiot and hot-tempered.
What he has demonstrated he is is undisciplined (lots of offsides as a TE) and probably impulsive personnality. Much better suited for DE. It will be a mistake to try the NFL. Unless he is a cancer, he should stay, add 20 lbs of muscle under Barwis and learn DE - then NFL is not far fetched at all. Remember, he was seeing playing time 1 week after position switch.
doesn't block = lazy
punches people = hot-tempered
idiot = false started frequently at TE
Agreed. I'll be moderately disappointed if it's Butler simply because he adds serviceable depth at a fairly thin position.
But we can certainly do without his attitude. The guy seems like a hot-headed punk out there on the field. Much like Greg Matthews, imo (except that Matthews actually contributes on the field).
Carson Butler isn't #5 any more.
And the leaving Senior is....
Mike Massey. I have this on good authority.
I was told by Terrance Taylor himself that he was going to the NFL
Put everything else aside and this is a senior with football talent who was going to be playing defensive end, and we're going into next year in medium-to-dire need of bodies at defensive end (though not so dire if Graham returns as planned).
I hope Carson returns, and I think it's the smart thing to do. If he bolts to the NFL, he's just another TE with an attitude, like The Soldier. If he stays, he could potentially become an NFL defensive end (he was moderately competent just one week after the position switch), and those guys make bank.
Massey or Butler?
Enquiring minds want to know...
Jarret Irons. His 13th year of eligibility has been denied so he's testing the CFL draft.
The fact that this poster credits Carson Butler as being the culprit in the sideline fight, when it was Charles Stewart (Butler no longer wears #5), sort of immediately ruins their credibility. I'm not saying it's not Butler - I'm saying that if it is, this guy blindly and luckily guessed.
agree with you.
Also, he has "Tressel" in his name.
is currently a 5th year senior.
You must know someone on the team, where did you acquire such information?
And the leaving senior is... Antonio Bass. Damn we could have used him at QB.
That the player arguing on the sidelines was David Underwood. Though others swear it was John Wangler.
it wasn't Justin Boren screaming "Your not my real father DickRod"
im sorry I should have clarified...Charles Stewart was the main cause of the fight, but Butler later got involved (from what I can tell this was after the camera moved away) and threatened to fight Rich Rod. that's right.
The two hate each other apparently, and Butler was most likely gonig to have been kicked off the team had he stayed, so he's jumping ship and taking his chances in the Draft.
so much that he granted his request for a position change AND gave him PT? This doesn't make much sense but hey you know more that I do.
rich rod should have ripped off his shirt like orgeron at ole miss
When Carson Butler beefs with someone, it generally involves blunt-force trauma, not the grabbing of shirt collars.
that Beanie Wells announced he is considering transferring to Washington but only if Les Miles gets hired. His mother's best friends cousin told a woman who works with my father-in-law.
Take your jokes somewhere else!
Any response to the fact that the Big Ten Network selected OSU as the most disappointing team in Big Ten Football-Columbus Fans have to be excited. Will next year be the year?
Think you guys are a little harsh here... it's not like anyone would be surprised if Butler was the guy who was gone. In general I give a lot of credence to rumors that no one would particularly care about. If someone says Artis Chambers is likely to transfer he probably is because someone trying to yank your chain wouldn't pick Chambers. I bet this guy is legit.
The whole Carson Butler wanted to fight RR thing is just asinine.
even though that might be something that's been distorted in the retelling, the key piece of info -- goodbye Carson Butler -- is legit. And Tom backs it up; I know the source and it's someone who would know. Dollars to donuts Butler is out the door.
I just want to know what this whole thread is stemming from? It's not that I don't believe it, I'll do my own research, but how did this come up in a conversation?
Like I said, I don't know how this came about, but it looks like it's true. I just asked someone, "Is Carson Butler leaving, and was he involved in the sideline argument?" They told me the same exact story that this thread started with, only described a little worse.
**********THIS IS NOT OFFICIAL, I WAS TOLD THIS BY A SOURCE, DO NOT TAKE THIS AS OFFICIAL UNTIL ANNOUNCED BY COACHES**************
(just thought I'd give a little disclaimer this time)
should be in your sig line. The important question is how much faith do you put in your source?
this person would know.
I don't get it. It was obviously Stewart and Thompson for the most part...oh, and "dude". Where the hell was Butler?
It wasn't shown, but apparently he almost fought RR. He's mad because he doesn't get along with RR, he was pushed to 3rd string, and then got into that fight, so for now he's going to try the NFL Draft.
I......don't believe. He almost fought Rodriguez? WTF??
Seriously. This is Carson Butler we're talking about. He doesn't "almost" fight anyone. He either doesn't, or there is blood.
Goddammit Rich, just buy Rita a new iron next time ok?
I mean, take that with a grain of salt. One persons perspective of fighting is different from another, I don't know what happened with that.
Wait, did Mark May tell you this? Because he doesn't seem to be the best source for information.
Did RichRod steal Carson's iron?
Was this game actually played on Valentine's Day and broadcast tape-delayed?
Jarrett Irons stole RichRod's butler, and Rita threatened to fight Stewart?
You would think if you almost got in a fight with the head coach during a game you would be kicked off the team, if not arrested. RR said in his Monday presser that he wanted to talk to the kid who didn't show up for the team meeting before giving his name, so apparently he wasn't kicked off. The whole thing sounds pretty weird.
I thought the leaving senior was MESKO. It makes more sense for him to leave.
